About me

My core approach is Person-Centred Therapy, based on the belief that every person has the capacity for growth, change and self-fulfilment. When helpful, I integrate other therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs. This is to ensure that our work together is flexible, collaborative, and tailored to you.

Coming from a minority ethnic background myself, I embrace difference, diversity, and equal opportunities for all. I welcome contact from anyone, regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual identity, or background. My practice is culturally sensitive and inclusive.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified counsellor and a registered Member (MBACP) of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work within the ethical framework of the BACP, ensuring a safe, professional, and fully confidential practice. I aim to provide a compassionate, calm, compassionate space where you can pause, reflect, and find your way forward - whatever life brings.

I have a Masters Degree in Medical Science, and spent many years as a Research Scientist in Molecular Genetics at Cambridge University, followed by roles in scientific projects worldwide. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of the pressures that come with high expectations, demanding careers, and global responsibilities — as well as the toll these can take on wellbeing and relationships.

I have been volunteering since 2014 at a local hospice, providing compassionate support to individuals and families during some of life's most challenging moments. Currently, I am currently counselling victims of domestic abuse at Angels Foundation, as well as support individuals experiencing homelessness through Emmaus UK, a homeless charity in Cambridge.

This extensive volunteering experience has deepened my understanding of trauma, resilience, and the human capacity for healing and growth. It has reinforced my belief that everyone deserves access to compassionate, professional support regardless of their circumstances.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
