About me

Welcome - I’m Yasmin, a qualified counsellor based in Bristol.
I work in private practice and part-time with a charity-based counselling agency, supporting individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences. A little about me: like many people, my journey into this work has been shaped by my own experiences. I faced significant challenges in my early years that at times left me feeling isolated and alone. As I moved into adulthood, this showed up as confusion and emotional overwhelm. Through my own therapeutic work with skilled and compassionate counsellors, I learned how to understand these experiences, regulate my emotions, and develop ways of coping that feel supportive and sustainable. These experiences continue to inform my work, and they deepen my belief in the power of a safe therapeutic relationship. I offer this space with care, understanding, and hope — knowing that healing and change are possible.

My therapeutic approach is integrative, which means I draw on different models depending on your needs. My work is rooted in Person-Centred Therapy, focusing on creating a safe, empathetic space where your voice is central. I also integrate aspects of Solution-Focused Therapy, offering practical support where helpful, and Psychodynamic Therapy, which can help explore how past experiences may be shaping your present.

At the heart of my work is a simple but powerful aim: to walk alongside you at your own pace, offering a space that is warm, non-judgemental, and supportive. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, loss, relationship issues, or simply feeling stuck or disconnected - this can be a space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself. Bringing a sense of what you’d like to explore can help guide our sessions and keep them focused on what feels most meaningful for you. While there’s always space for whatever shows up along the way, my hope is to offer a practical and supportive space where you can slow things down and develop a clearer understanding of yourself.

Taking that first step toward counselling can feel uncertain, but you’re not alone. If you'd like a consultation please get in contact - this is your opportunity to use a this space to ask questions, share any worries, and explore what feels right for you. It’s an opportunity to find a therapist who understands you and can walk alongside you on your journey toward healing and growth.

If you’re looking for a therapist who will meet you with warmth, kindness, and curiosity, I would be honoured to support you.  We can have an informal conversation about what support might look like for you, and how you would like to begin this journey.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor with a Foundation Degree in Counselling and an accredited registered member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).

As part of my training, I gained valuable experience through placements with both a charity-based counselling organisation and a low-cost counselling service, where I worked with a diverse range of clients. Over the course of more than a year, I supported individuals in both short-term and long-term therapy, helping them navigate a wide variety of challenges - including experiences of domestic abuse, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.

These experiences deepened my understanding of the importance of meeting each client with compassion, sensitivity, and respect for their unique story - values I continue to hold at the heart of my practice today.

Before qualifying as a counsellor, I gained extensive experience working in schools with children and teenagers, supporting those with special educational needs (SEN), additional needs, and from vulnerable or disadvantaged backgrounds. This work has given me valuable insight into the challenges young people face, particularly around identity, self-esteem, and navigating complex life circumstances.
