About me

Hi, I’m Victoria Gray, I’m a Humanistic Therapist, and Fineshade Therapy is my private practice. I support people experiencing a wide range of emotional and mental health challenges.

You might be experiencing challenges such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, chronic illness or the impact of past experiences. Whatever your challenges, I will meet you with empathy, curiosity, and without judgement.

My approach is person-centred and integrative, which means I gently tailor each session to your unique needs. I offer a warm, compassionate and supportive space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted just as you are.

If you are exploring the possibility of having therapy to help you make sense of what feels troubling, you may be feeling apprehensive and unsure about what to expect. If this resonates with you, I warmly invite you to explore my website to see whether the support I offer feels right for you.

MORE ABOUT MY APPROACH

My aim is to offer you a warm, thoughtful, and non-judgemental space where you can gently explore the impact of your unique life experiences. I work with a relational approach and see the therapeutic relationship itself as an important part of the healing process, and believe that feeling safe, understood, and genuinely accepted as you are can create the conditions for growth, self-awareness, and lasting change. I will do my best to understand what things are like for you, meeting every part of your experience with empathy, curiosity, and without judgement. Together, we can explore your experiences, relationships, and the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, helping to strengthen the inner resources you need to navigate life’s challenges.

As a person-centred therapist, I believe that each of us has an innate wisdom within us, although at times we can feel disconnected from it, leaving us feeling lost or overwhelmed. I can support you in reconnecting with that sense of inner knowing, and will work alongside you in finding a way forward that feels safe, gentle, and right for you.

Having personally experienced the benefits of therapy, and having had the privilege of walking alongside others on their own journeys, I have developed a deep trust in the therapeutic process. I truly believe that, as we reconnect with what is already within us, we can begin to experience a greater sense of steadiness and inner peace, even when life feels uncertain or difficult.

For me, therapy is about more than talking. I recognise that emotional pain is often held in the body, not just the mind, and that there can sometimes be a disconnection between the two. Part of the work can therefore involve gently reconnecting mind and body. Where it feels appropriate and supportive for you, I may draw on somatic approaches, mindfulness, and an awareness of the nervous system to help foster a greater sense of safety, grounding, and regulation, particularly when working with trauma.

Alongside my person-centred foundation, I work in a trauma-informed way and have experience supporting adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse and domestic abuse. I also have experience of working with neurodiversity, bereavement and the emotional impact of life limiting illness.

I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including parts work (Internal Family Systems), polyvagal theory, attachment theory, inner child work, somatic approaches, and mindfulness. Where helpful, I gently integrate these into our work together, always guided by your individual needs, preferences, and what feels most supportive for you.

Above all, I respect your autonomy and will work collaboratively with you to shape the work at a pace that feels right. My aim is to meet you where you are, and to support you in a way that feels safe, supportive, and genuinely attuned to you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
