MBCAP Counsellor in Brighton & Hove - In-person & Online

About me

Welcome

Hi I'm Vicky, a counsellor for adults based in Brighton & Hove, working both in person and online. I support people experiencing anxiety, grief, struggling with low self-esteem, or finding family and relationship issues hard to manage.

Often I meet people who are used to coping on their own, or supporting others, but who are now noticing that things feel heavy, stuck, or difficult to carry alone. I offer a place to slow things down, make sense of what’s happening, and find new ways of relating to yourself and others.

Whatever brings you to therapy, I'll meet you with a warm welcome.

How I work

My own experiences of loss and life transitions have shaped not only who I am, but how I work. I believe that counselling isn't about fixing or diagnosing, it's about building a trusting, honest relationship where you can feel truly heard, and understood. I work in a non-judgemental, respectful and caring way, and I won't assume that I know what's best for you, or tell you what to do.

As well as working with adults, in person and online, in private practice, I also work at a local low cost counselling service and have previously volunteered for Cruse, a national bereavement charity. I have witnessed in all of these settings how the relationship between counsellor and client plays a central role in effective therapy. Feeling understood and accepted can make a real difference to the work we do together.

What will the sessions be like?

I'm a person-centred counsellor which means that in our sessions you'll choose what you want to talk about and you'll set the pace. I'll be honest and open and may sometimes challenge, to do my best to understand.

Therapy isn't always easy, but talking through and processing difficult feelings and experiences with the support of a counsellor can bring relief and self-acceptance. Everyone's experience is unique and I'll do my best to understand yours.

Next step

If any of this resonates with you, or you have any questions, please get in touch to arrange an initial conversation free of charge. This will give us the chance to chat about what you are looking for from therapy and how I could help. It will also help us to see if we might work well together.

If you'd like to have an introductory call you can book a time directly by using the button at the top of this page, or you can find my phone number, email address and website details there too.

If you can't find a suitable time slot to book an intro call, please get in touch to enquire about alternative availability.

Location

I work in-person from quiet, comfortable rooms in Hove and have some online sessions available.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
