About me

I am a qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work with adults aged 18 and above and have experience in a wide range of emotional issues.

Talking to a professional can be very helpful, although I understand that taking that first step can feel difficult. I will provide a space that feels safe for you to share your feelings and thoughts, somewhere you can be heard, seen, accepted and understood. Therapy is a place for you, where your feelings can be shared without judgement. Whether it’s a specific issue, past trauma or current event, I can work alongside you to explore your experiences and feelings.

My approach is psychodynamic which means that I can support you to explore past experiences and how they may be impacting your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and relationships now. By understanding what is going on, it is possible to make changes and move forward in your life. Integral to this is the therapeutic relationship, my approach is warm and containing, working at your pace and responding to your individual needs.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling
  • Foundation Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling

As well as private practice, I have experience of working in the charitable sector as a counsellor, working with a wide range of people. I have also worked in charities supporting people to find their role after life changing events.

Prior to training as a counsellor, I worked in a corporate environment and understand the impact that work related stress, and challenges can place on mental well being.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
