About me

**Spaces currently available on weekday mornings, enquiries welcome

Hello I'm Veronica and I am a humanistic counsellor.  I offer judgement-free talking therapy which works in a careful, explorative way.  You will find me to be empathic, curious and open-minded.  I firmly believe there are "no bad parts".  I focus on what you as a unique individual  bring to the process of therapy.  Come as you are - we will go at your pace. Sessions are private and confidential. I work from a peaceful counselling centre near the centre of Norwich.   In the first instance I offer an introductory call so you can see if I'm the right counsellor for you.

My work as a counsellor in a community setting in Norwich means I have worked with a diverse population of clients with a huge variety of experiences. I am trained in a number of specialist areas including systemic couples therapy, pregnancy & baby loss, trauma work, and compassionate work with addiction.  I tend to follow my heart when it comes to training and am proud to offer a skill set that is both varied and expanding.   Ultimately though, I believe it is the relationship between client and therapist that matters most.

My style of counselling helps with developing lasting self-worth, self-compassion and positive self-regard.  Throughout my practice, including with trauma, I respect and support clients to make choices about how we progress with the work.   Counselling is a process I want clients to come away from with ownership, so that development and growth taking place in therapy remain with you long-term.

I have academic interests in post-structuralism, relational dynamics and ontology and hold a masters degree in philosophy.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Post-Graduate Diploma in Person Centred Counselling
  • Certificate in Online and Telephone counselling - BACP compliant
  • Certified Couples Therapy Informed Provider
  • DBS

I have completed additional trainings in working with trauma, pregnancy and baby loss, working with addiction and supporting complex emotional and relational needs.

I am a volunteer counsellor at St Barnabas serving the local community in Norwich. I have also worked at TimeNorfolk supporting people who have experienced miscarriage and baby loss.

I am experienced in providing counselling for students, both long and short term.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
