About me

I provide ethical, safe and effective psychotherapy for adults and children from a base in Burton-On-Trent and a base in Lichfield. My aim is for my clients to know themselves better, feel lighter, calmer and more in charge of their own lives.

AREAS I SPECIALISE IN:

I specialise in helping with anxiety, grief and issues relating to ADHD and autism.

WHO DO I WORK WITH?

I work with adults and children. I support many adults both male and female. I have over 22 years of experience working with children and young people.

WHAT HAPPENS IN SESSIONS?

ADULTS: We would work together to identify what is affecting you most at the moment and start from there. We would set goals collaboratively and review them every six sessions. Sessions would mostly comprise of talking therapy but I can also incorporate activities such as breathing and meditation exercises to aid clients who struggle with anxiety and sleep. I use a range of techniques including creative based therapies to suit your needs.

CHILDREN and YOUNG PEOPLE: Children and young people often struggle to identify and manage emotions especially at certain points in their development such as adolescence when issues with relationships and identity can intensify. I use play therapy with young children and a mix of talking and creative activities to support young people to identify and understand their emotions.

ABOUT ME:

I come from a long line of family in the helping professions and am passionate about counselling. My background is in social care and education. I have good understanding to degree level about the effects of stress and trauma on the brain and body. Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
