About me

Hi, I'm Verity. I'm an integrative therapist, which means I draw on different approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. At the heart of my work is the relationship we build together. I believe that when you feel safe, accepted, and truly listened to, it becomes easier to understand yourself, make sense of your experiences and create lasting change.

Life can sometimes feel like a tangled knot that's difficult to unravel on your own. Whether you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, struggling in your relationships, grieving, or simply not feeling like yourself, you don't have to make sense of it all alone. Together, we'll gently untangle what's been weighing on you, helping you understand yourself more deeply and find a way forward that feels right for you. We'll work at a pace that feels comfortable, with you leading the way, because you're the expert in your own life.

I also enjoy working creatively when it feels right for you. While talking is often enough, there are times when words don't quite capture what we're feeling. In those moments, we might use imagery, metaphor, drawing, drama, writing or other creative exercises to help explore your thoughts and emotions differently. There's never any expectation to work creatively it's simply another option if it feels helpful.

Clients often describe me as warm, genuine and down-to-earth. I bring honesty, compassion and a little humour into the therapy room. I am LGBTQ+ and ND affirming, being part of both communities; I have some lived experience in these areas. Above all, I want you to feel comfortable enough to be yourself, knowing you'll be met with curiosity rather than judgement.

I offer therapy online and face-to-face in Sheffield, along with a free 20-minute introductory call so we can see whether we're the right fit.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
