About me
I am an accredited psychodynamic counsellor, also trained in ACT, EMDR and treating CPTSD and complex trauma. This needn't necessarily be 'big' trauma and can be from a history of being overlooked, misunderstood and not noticed.
I like to integrate mind and body approaches and will always offer you a choice and range of approaches. I can work creatively and with humour, to delve into the deeper work at a pace that suits you.
I also offer supervision to counsellors and therapists, soon to complete a diploma with ECPC in August 2024.
I offer online or in-person sessions in Newcastle. I currently work in private practice on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
I am a middle-aged, menopausal white woman, with personal experience of lone parenthood and parental mental health, dementia and bereavement. I have had a career in support work and social work in the community, working with vulnerable young people mainly. I have also been a Senior Independent Children's Advocate and a Unison steward.
Training, qualifications & experience
- Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling - 2013
- MSc Psychology - 2016
- BA (hons) Social Work studies - 2001
- Level 4 Diploma in Management and Leadership - 2019
- EMDR - Basic training with EMDR Europe

I have supported and counselled people who have survived the traumatic experiences of domestic violence, sexual abuse, rape, physical and emotional abuse in childhood and had their needs neglected or overlooked whilst growing up. I am experienced in supporting people who have grown up with narcissistic and emotionally immature parents/caregivers, helping them to understand how their experiences have impacted them.
I am experienced in working with adults and young people who are neuro-divergent in ways which affirm their experience. With everyone, I work to improve levels of autonomy, assertiveness, independence, self-worth and self-care.
I am also an LGBTQ+ ally.
