Valerie Lyons BSc (Hons), MBACP, Counsellor and Supervisor
Hello my name is Valerie - mostly called Val, welcome to my counselling space:- safe, relaxed and non judgemental.
My "theoretical approach" is Integrative and I work creatively within a variety of counselling styles to suit your specific needs. I listen to you without judgement and with respect at all times. I understand that the decision to come to counselling can be quite a difficult one, and feel quite daunting. I wish to make you feel at ease in my private counselling space.
My private practice is set in a quiet, discreet location and parking is available for you. I have a private, secure and comfortable purpose built office enabling me to offer a safe and confidential space for your counselling sessions.
I also have some availability in Peterborough, in purpose built therapy rooms.
I do work with children, adolescents and young people as well as adults. Creative materials are available to you if you wish to work in this way.
My background is as a registered nurse, having spent over 18 years working in the NHS in both hospital, hospice and community settings. My experience as a nurse and counsellor has given me valuable insight into the challenges faced through life's stages and the difficulties individuals may face. Modern day life can be stressful, hectic and unpredictable such as family issues. Anxiety, general anxiety disorders, panic disorder and phobias can become problematic but there are statagies that can be used to turn down their intensity to give you back some control.
I offer short, medium or long term therapy to suit you, on a confidential and professional basis. Home visits are available at an extra charge.
