About me

Hi,

I'm Val and I am an integrative therapeutic counsellor.

Welcome to my counselling space:- safe, relaxed and supportive. Since Covid-19 and social distancing measures, counselling sessions are now offered via Zoom meetings, telephone or face to face.

My "theoretical approach" is Integrative and I work within a variety of counselling styles. I will listen to you with empathy, kindness and without judgement. The decision to come to counselling can be quite daunting. I wish to make you feel at ease and relaxed to explore the difficulties you are facing.

I offer a safe and confidential space for your session via Zoom, telephone or face to face, the choice is yours. I have experience working with adolescents and young people, as well as adults from all generations.

My experience as a nurse and counsellor has given me valuable insight into the challenges faced through life's stages and the many difficulties individuals encounter on their journey.

Modern day life can be stressful, hectic and unpredictable, it's busy and demanding. Working from home and family demands are high and often feelings of increasing pressure feel stressful. The past few years have been full of unpredictability, a time of exhaustion trying to do it all.

Some areas I work with are relationships, anxiety, feelings of sadness, feeling lonely or loneliness, general anxiety disorders, depression, panic disorder and phobias, along with bereavement, loss and grief and other disorders. There are many stressful situations from all walks of life that counselling may help bring resolve. Strategies are used to turn down the intensity of anxiety to give you back some control.

I'm here to listen to you when you feel ready to start your journey. No matter how big or small you feel the issue, it may be time to talk, be listened to and get the support you need. It's ok to not be ok, it's ok to reach out and ask for support. When your ready, pick up the phone. I can offer short, medium or long term therapy to suit you, on a confidential and professional basis.

Making the first step is often the hardest, I'm here to support you through this. Contact me Valerie, by email, text or mobile, let's get started and get you back to being you.

I look forward to hearing from you very soon,

warmest wishes,

Val.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.
