About me

Hello, I'm Vaishali.

I am an integrative relational Psychotherapist and Counsellor working with Individual adults, young adults and older adults. I offer short-term (up to 12 weeks) and open-ended (+12 weeks) counselling sessions online and face to face.

Perhaps life feels particularly challenging for you right now. Your thoughts and feelings may feel muddled, or you might feel exhausted from trying to hold everything together without anyone noticing. There may be so much happening that even answering the question “how are you?” feels overwhelming.

However you are feeling, I intend to offer you a safe, compassionate, and empathetic space where you feel safe enough to explore difficult thoughts, emotions, and feelings and attend to what comes up for you.

In our work together, you can expect a supportive and non-judgmental environment where all parts of your experience are welcome. I strive to meet you with empathy and curiosity, honouring your pace while gently guiding you toward clarity, resilience, and deeper self-awareness.

I believe that healing happens within the context of relationship and as a relational therapist, I use the therapeutic relationship itself as an instrument for healing and growth.

Additionally, as an integrative psychotherapist, I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities including Humanistic, Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, CBT, and Attachment-based approaches. This allows me to work holistically and tailor our sessions to your unique needs, experiences, and circumstances.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Our First Counselling Session - What to Expect

Beginning counselling can feel like a meaningful step, and it’s completely natural to experience some uncertainty or nerves. You’re not alone in feeling this way.

My intention is to offer a warm, calm, and compassionate space where you can begin to settle in and feel supported as you start your journey.

Our first session is a gentle opportunity for us to get to know one another. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable for you about yourself and what has brought you to counselling. There is no expectation or pressure to go beyond your own pace.

We’ll also take a moment to go over some practical aspects such as confidentiality, session times, and the cancellation process and I’ll explain a little more about how I work.

You’re encouraged to ask any questions that may arise. Together, we can explore whether it feels like a good, supportive fit for us to work together moving forward

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

There is a hearing loop installed and wheelchair access at my counselling room for in-person counselling in Mitcham.
