About me
Welcome,
My name is Ula and I am a UKCP/MBACP registered Gestalt Psychotherapist, Integrative Supervisor and EMDR therapist. I have been working in various therapeutic settings with adults, children and adolescents for the last twenty years both in private practice and as a part of a multidisciplinary team in organisations.
I gained an MSc and Diploma in Gestalt psychotherapy from Middlesex University and Diploma in Psychotherapy from Metanoia Institute, London, one of the leading training centres for counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK.
To deepen my professional practice I worked as one of the assistant tutors on a MSc in Gestalt psychotherapy course in Metanoia Institute and as a counselling therapist in a community school in west London. I also facilitated and co-facilitated workshops on stress reduction, mindfulness, embodiment and resilience.
For the last 15 years I have been practising mindfulness/insight meditation, attending retreats across UK and Europe. I take part in various conscious movement classes and workshops on a regular basis. I've practiced yoga for 30 years and trained with contemporary Shamans in Scotland. Integrating these multiple practices into the therapeutic work support and ground me and offer a direction in my development and work as a psychotherapist.
I am also registered EMDR therapist.
About Gestalt Psychotherapy
Gestalt therapy focuses on gaining awareness of the present moment in the present context. In therapy, we learn to discover feelings/emotions that may have been suppressed (depressed) or masked by other feelings ( anxiety, for example) and to accept and trust ourselves more.
Therapist may use creativity in their approaches, depending on context and each person's personality.
In Gestalt psychotherapy there is an emphasis on direct contact between therapist and client as well as direct experience sometimes referred to as the focus on the “what and how" and the “here and now' of the therapeutic situation. There is growing evidence showing that Gestalt is an effective approach in reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety on a long-term basis.
About the therapy process:
I will offer you the opportunity to feel welcomed just as you are and to explore issues in compassionate and non-judgemental environment where you'd be able to gain more awareness about yourself in the wider world. You will be able to foster conditions needed for change in order to lead a more full and satisfying life.
We will meet for an initial consultation where we will discuss your needs and decide what would be the best treatment options for you.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
