About me

Are you often the person others turn to, yet find it difficult to ask for support yourself? Perhaps you are grieving, struggling in a relationship, or feeling that your own needs have been lost along the way.

I’m Tracy, and through Open Heart Therapy, I offer a space where your feelings and experiences matter. You don’t need to find the “right” words or know exactly what is wrong before we begin. Together, we can make room for what you have been carrying and explore what you need.

I have a particular interest in supporting people who feel unseen, give a great deal within relationships, or struggle to put themselves first. My experience also includes supporting people through bereavement and loss, where there may be complex feelings and no straightforward way forward.

I also have a passion for supporting teenagers to recognise their worth and develop relationships where care, effort and respect go both ways. I offer space to explore friendships, family relationships and romantic relationships, including the pressure to please others or give more than feels comfortable. Together, we can explore their needs, boundaries and sense of self, helping them recognise that their feelings matter and that they deserve to be heard and valued.

As a pluralistic counsellor, I work collaboratively with you. We may explore how earlier experiences affect your relationships today, make sense of difficult emotions, or use practical tools to manage anxiety and everyday pressures. Your preferences help shape our work.

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Pluralistic Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Children, Young People and Families. I offer counselling for adults and young people aged 13 and over, in person in Midlothian and online.

A free 15-minute introductory call offers an opportunity to ask questions and get a sense of whether you would feel comfortable working with me.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Diploma in Pluralistic Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Children, Young People and Families
  • COSCA Member

My counselling experience includes supporting adults and children through the often overwhelming grief associated with bereavement and loss within a hospice setting.

Through my work with children and youth counselling services, I have supported children and young people experiencing anxiety, family changes, bereavement, friendship difficulties and challenges with expressing and managing emotions. This experience informs my particular interest in helping adolescents explore their self-worth, express their needs and develop relationships based on mutual care and respect.

For many years, I have also supported vulnerable adults overcome the challenges associated with recovery from substance use or those feeling the effects of being affected by crime. This has deepened my understanding of how adversity and life circumstances can affect confidence, relationships and emotional wellbeing.
