About me
Hello, I’m Tracy.
There are times in life when things can feel difficult, overwhelming or simply not quite right. You may know exactly what is troubling you, or you may just have a sense that something needs to change. Either way, deciding to talk to someone can be a big step.
I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can slow things down, make sense of what you're experiencing and have time to focus on yourself. You don't need to have all the answers before you begin.
I work with adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, bereavement, loss and life changes. I work collaboratively, tailoring our sessions to you rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
I offer face-to-face counselling in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, and online counselling, with sessions available during the day, evenings and some weekends.
If you're considering counselling and would like to explore whether working together feels right for you, I'd be happy to hear from you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and have completed the BACP Certificate of Proficiency. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
My counselling training has included Person-Centred Therapy, Transactional Analysis and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which inform my integrative approach.
Alongside my private practice, I teach counselling students at Levels 2 and 4, which enables me to continue developing my knowledge and keeping up to date with counselling theory and practice.
Before moving into counselling, I spent over 35 years working in financial services, including roles focused on people and culture. This experience has given me a strong understanding of the pressures, expectations and challenges that can arise in working life and during periods of change.
I undertake regular clinical supervision and ongoing continuing professional development as part of my commitment to safe and ethical practice.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
