About me

I am an integrative counsellor and nurse offering a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever is bringing you to therapy, both face-to-face and online.

Sometimes we know exactly what is wrong; at other times we simply know that we are struggling, feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or not quite ourselves. You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, burnout, grief, health anxiety, relationship difficulties or the impact of a difficult or traumatic experience. Whatever brings you to counselling, I believe you deserve a space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted without judgement.

My approach is integrative, drawing primarily from person-centred and psychodynamic approaches. This means that I will work with you as an individual, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach. We can explore what is happening for you in the present, while also considering whether past experiences, relationships or patterns may be influencing how you feel today.

Having worked as a nurse for 25 years in a range of demanding healthcare settings, including senior clinical and leadership roles, I have a particular understanding of the emotional impact that illness, healthcare experiences and caring for others can have. I have an interest in supporting people experiencing health anxiety, medical trauma, chronic illness, burnout, compassion fatigue, and the emotional demands of working in healthcare and other frontline roles.

I also understand that counselling can feel daunting. You don't need to arrive with everything figured out, and you don't need to know exactly what you want to talk about. We can start wherever you are and work things through together, at a pace that feels manageable for you.

My aim is to provide a genuine, collaborative therapeutic relationship where you can begin to understand yourself more deeply, develop greater self-compassion, and find ways of moving forward that feel right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am BACP Registered Member and trained integratively, incorporating both psychodynamic and person-centred approaches. I have ongoing professional development in areas including trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, burnout, health anxiety, and emotional wellbeing.

I have experience working with adults presenting with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem. grief, relationship difficulties, trauma, health anxiety and emotional overwhelm. I volunteer at a charity providing counselling for individuals experiencing mild to moderate mental health conditions.

Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in nursing for 25 years. I have extensive experience supporting people through serious illness, distress, significant life changes and challenging circumstances, as well as working alongside healthcare professionals in demanding environments. It has given me a strong understanding of the emotional impact of illness, healthcare experiences, caring responsibilities and workplace stress. It has also developed my ability to listen carefully, remain calm in difficult situations and build trusting professional relationships.

I continue to develop my counselling practice through regular clinical supervision, personal therapy and ongoing professional development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
