About me
Hello, I’m Tracey, a fully qualified, MBACP registered psychotherapeutic counsellor with adults over the age of 18. I work from my practice in Norwich and offer online sessions too.
I offer counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space where you can feel supported to make sense of, and process what feels difficult in your life right now. I work with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, family issues, stress and burnout, addiction, relationship issues, identity issues, domestic and emotional abuse and bereavement and loss.
My training is in Gestalt psychotherapy which values the exploration of emotions in a relational context. Through the holding space of our therapeutic relationship, I can support you to work through repeating patterns and unresolved issues which might be holding you back or making you feel stuck.
Gestalt psychotherapeutic counselling can help with increasing self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-acceptance, enabling you to experience your life with greater ease, choice and joy.
I will welcome and accept you as a unique individual and meet you where you are in your life now, working at a pace which feels comfortable for you.
My approach is trauma-informed, exploring thoughts and feelings in the present moment, with attention to body-based communications as messengers for what may be unspoken. I am also influenced by compassion-focused therapy, internal family systems (IFS) and inner child work which can be particularly supportive when working with a strong inner critic and/or feelings of shame.
Please get in touch if you would like to explore us working together. All calls and messages are confidential.
Training, qualifications & experience
- Diploma Gestalt Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Level 6) - Metanoia Institute, London.
- MSc in Social Work - Royal Holloway University of London.
Alongside my profession as a psychotherapeutic counsellor, I am a fully qualified senior social worker and worked with vulnerable children, young people and families for over a decade. My specialism was with care-experienced children and young people including work in the family courts.
This experience enables me to hold a space for exploring complex family dynamics and systems and inter-generational trauma within my work with individuals.
My clinical counselling experience has included working as a counsellor at MAP, a charity which offers counselling and advice to young people ages 16-25, and at Cambridge Counselling Service, which offers counselling and psychotherapy for individuals, couples and families.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
