About me

Hello, and welcome to my profile. My name is Toby and I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor. If you are experiencing emotional distress and want support, or if you want to understand yourself better, I believe counselling can help you.

My aim is to help people become unstuck and move towards easier, more fulfilling lives, where they can better understand and express themselves, become more able to resolve issues and challenges, and move towards what feels right for them. I would love to be able to offer this to you.

I have been amazed at what clients can discover about themselves and how they can disentangle the complexities and difficulties of their lives when they have a space to freely explore what matters to them, free from judgement.

I currently offer sessions in person in Glasgow City Centre and online.

Initial Meeting

For our first meeting, I offer a session of up to 50 minutes at a reduced rate of £25. It is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have, consider what you might want to explore in therapy and for us to see if we would be a good fit. My hope is that you will leave this session feeling clear about what it would be like to start therapy with me and if that is something you would want.

Please feel free to get in touch so we can talk about how I can help you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I help people by creating a safe space where they feel fully accepted, just as they are. As we develop a trusting relationship, I will help you better understand what is getting in the way of what you want in life, safe in the knowledge that you are with somebody who cares and wants to understand you from your own point of view.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
