About me

I am a Psychodynamic Counsellor/Psychotherapist in Colchester. I specialise in working with clients who are struggling to understand their own feelings of discomfort about themselves, while also feeling misunderstood by others. You may be using denial and avoidance to cope with grief, hopelessness, stress, and a sense of being 'stuck.' You may be trying your best to get by but feel yourself slowly falling apart. In my therapy room, we create a safe and confidential space to explore and discuss even the most difficult topics.

My background as a Southeast Asian counsellor from America contributes to my unique approach; I can understand the feeling of "otherness", the feeling of not quite belonging but not being different enough. I can open space to speak about discrimination, prejudice, classism, sexuality, or abuse with those facing naming such difficult experiences.

I'd like to invite you into a safe space to help you share your burdens, to unload and begin to process them to live your best life. We might not be able to solve all your problems, but therapy with me can take meaningful steps toward understanding your reactions to the world and finding different ways toward approaching solutions.

Approach to Therapy
I help clients to focus on the present while reflecting on their journey to their current point, exploring how past experiences may be influencing their current challenges. Using a psychodynamic approach, I help clients unravel the unconscious behaviors that may be negatively impacting their lives. By increasing awareness and understanding, we can work towards creating meaningful changes. Whether it's anger, panic attacks, or avoidant behaviours, I'm here to support you through trauma, mood disorders, and grief.

Available Spaces and Therapy Options:
I currently have spaces available for individuals aged 16 and older. I offer both short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy (10-20 sessions on a weekly basis) and long-term psychotherapy (open-ended work on a weekly basis).

Culturally Inclusive Practice:
My practise is culturally and diversity-informed, welcoming clients from all backgrounds, including people of colour (POC), size inclusive, chronic-illness, differently-abled and LGBTQIA+ persons.

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
