About Us
Hi, I’m Nat, an experienced psychotherapist and the founder of Therapy Huddersfield.
I know that starting therapy can feel daunting — you might not even know where to begin — which is why I’ve made it simple. When you reach out, you’ll speak directly with me for a free, no-pressure call, where I’ll listen to what’s going on and help you find the right therapist from the team.
I’m extremely proud to work with an amazing team of warm, skilled therapists who share my belief that therapy should be accessible, down-to-earth, and effective. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, or just feeling stuck, we can help.
Alongside leading the practice, I provide therapy for adults and young people. My own work focuses on areas such as anxiety, trauma, attachment difficulties and depression, combining Integrative, IFS, and Compassion-Focused approaches.
You’re welcome to work with me directly if that feels like the right fit — we can chat about that when you get in touch.
We offer:
Low-cost therapy – £20 per session
Premium therapy – £65–£85 per session
Young people’s therapy – £65–£85 per session
All sessions are available face-to-face in our Huddersfield rooms, or online/telephone if that’s easier for you.
Low-Cost Therapy (£20 per session, age 16 +)
Many people come to our low-cost therapy service when life feels overwhelming — when anxiety or low mood make each day harder than it should be, when relationships feel tense or distant, or when grief, stress, or self-doubt begin to take over.
This service offers a gentle, affordable way to get support and start feeling more like yourself again.
Sessions are £20 per hour and open to anyone aged 16 and over. You’ll have a safe space to explore what’s going on, make sense of your emotions, and begin to find a steadier way forward.
Our low-cost therapists are in the final stages of professional training and have been certified as ready to practise. They bring real warmth, life experience and dedication to their work and are closely supported by our experienced associate team.
This means you benefit from the collective knowledge and guidance of the whole practice while receiving personal, compassionate care in each session.
You can meet the team and learn more at www.therapyhuddersfield.co.uk or by using the website link above.
Premium Therapy (£65–£85 per session, age 18+)
Our associate therapists are highly qualified and experienced, and can support you with both everyday struggles and more complex emotional difficulties.
We can help with:
Childhood adversity and trauma
Complex PTSD and dissociation
Addiction (alcohol, drugs, gambling)
Grief and bereavement
Self-harm and suicidal thoughts
Anxiety, stress, and burnout
Issues around food and eating
Each therapist brings their own specialisms — from Person-Centred and Integrative approaches to Internal Family Systems (IFS) and CBT — allowing us to tailor therapy to what feels right for you.
Within our team, Jen offers a calm, grounded presence and has a particular interest in anxiety and relational difficulties. Cath brings warmth and deep experience in supporting those coping with loss, identity issues and long-term stress. Hope has many years of experience working with trauma and sexual abuse, offering trauma-informed care that helps people rebuild a sense of safety. Laura, as an Art Therapist, provides a creative and holistic approach for clients who find it easier to express emotions through image and symbolism.
As lead therapist, I also work with adults experiencing trauma, attachment difficulties, anxiety and depression, combining Integrative, IFS, and Compassion-Focused approaches to help clients understand and heal underlying patterns.
When you contact us, I’ll personally match you with the therapist who best fits your needs and personality.

Therapy for Young People (£65–£85 per session, age 6–18)
We offer therapy for children and teenagers in a safe, understanding space where they can explore feelings and find their voice.
Our therapists are skilled at working creatively — using drawing, play, or storytelling alongside talking — to help young people express what’s going on inside.
We can support with:
Anxiety and low mood
Self-esteem and identity
Family or friendship difficulties
Change, loss, or bereavement
Support for neurodiverse young people (ADHD and Autism)
Many of our therapists have specialist experience in neurodiversity, ensuring that every young person feels seen and understood.
We’re also fortunate to have Laura Lee, our Art Therapist, who has extensive experience supporting young people affected by trauma and neurodiversity. Art therapy can be an especially helpful way for children and teens to process difficult experiences when words are hard to find — offering a gentle, creative route toward understanding and healing.
Our therapist Hope Pugh also brings long-standing experience working with trauma and sexual abuse, offering a deeply compassionate, trauma-informed approach that helps young people rebuild trust and confidence in themselves.
Together, our team provide a rich blend of experience and care to support young people through even the most challenging times.
Training, qualifications & experience
Training, Qualifications & Experience
All our therapists are members of recognised professional bodies and work within strict ethical frameworks.
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Distinction), and I’m an Accredited Member of the BACP. My additional training includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Integrative Therapy.
I personally interview and select every therapist on the team — both associates and trainees — for their professional skill, life experience, and warmth.
Our ‘ready to practise’ team are carefully chosen for their maturity and depth of understanding, and each receives ongoing supervision and support from myself and the associate team.
At Therapy Huddersfield, every client benefits from the collective experience and compassion of the whole practice.
Member organisations *
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Additional Information
At Therapy Huddersfield, we specialise in supporting people through life’s most difficult chapters — helping you to understand yourself, recover from past experiences, and build a calmer, more connected future.
Many of our clients come to us with anxiety, trauma, or difficulties in relationships, often feeling stuck in familiar patterns or disconnected from themselves. Others are dealing with stress, burnout, depression, grief, or identity struggles, or are navigating the challenges of neurodiversity. Whatever you are facing, our experienced team can help you make sense of it and move toward lasting change.
Our Therapeutic Approach
We use a range of evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches, including:
Internal Family Systems (IFS) — helping clients safely explore parts of themselves shaped by pain, fear, or self-criticism, and build inner compassion.
Integrative Therapy — drawing together multiple approaches to respond to your unique story, rather than offering a “one size fits all.”
CBT — supporting you to understand how thoughts, feelings and behaviours interact, and develop practical tools for anxiety and low mood.
Person-Centred and Compassion-Focused Therapy — creating a warm, respectful space where change happens through understanding and acceptance.
Creative and Art Therapy — using image, symbol, and metaphor to express what words can’t always reach.
These approaches help people to work through childhood adversity, complex trauma (CPTSD), anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, and self-esteem difficulties. We also provide specialised support for ADHD, Autism and sensory sensitivity, offering therapy that is gentle, flexible and inclusive.
Our Therapists
We’re proud to have built a diverse and deeply experienced team:
Nat Le Pla, our founder and lead therapist, specialises in trauma, attachment, anxiety and depression, using Integrative and IFS approaches to help clients find compassionate understanding and self-regulation.
Hope Pugh has many years of experience supporting adults and young people affected by sexual abuse, trauma, and anxiety, providing a trauma-informed, relational approach that restores safety and confidence.
Cath offers a calm, grounded presence for clients coping with bereavement, loss, stress, or identity changes, bringing depth and warmth to her work.
Jen supports adults managing anxiety, relationship issues, and self-worth, combining clarity, compassion and a steady, supportive style.
Laura Lee, our Art Therapist, brings specialist expertise in creative therapy, trauma recovery, and neurodiversity, offering a powerful way to explore emotion through art and movement when words are difficult.
Accessible and High-Quality Support
Alongside our experienced associate team, we also offer a Low-Cost Therapy Service — sessions from £20 with our “ready-to-practise” trainee therapists. Each trainee has been carefully selected not just for academic excellence but for their wider life and work experience, empathy, and commitment to personal growth. They receive close supervision and mentoring from Nat and the associate team, ensuring that every client benefits from the collective knowledge and care of the whole practice.
Our Space
Therapy Huddersfield is based in Edgerton, just outside the town centre — a quiet, comfortable setting designed to help you feel at ease from the moment you arrive. We have free parking, easy access from the M62, and welcoming rooms used by both our therapists and art therapy clients.
For those who prefer flexibility, many of our counsellors also offer online or telephone sessions, providing continuity and support wherever you are.
