Terri Windsor MSc BSc(Hons)Psych. UKCP MBACP(Accred)
As a qualified, experienced therapist, I provide a safe, professional and supportive environment in which we can explore your difficulties and concerns and work towards lasting change.
You may have had difficult or painful life experiences, or be struggling with relational patterns that are making you unhappy. You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, sad or depressed and not know why. You may be experiencing life events that feel unbearable. If any of this resonates with you please do get in touch.
My approach is a holistic and integrated one which recognises the importance of body as well as mind processes. We all are born with the capacity to live satisfying lives, but through our lifetime of relationships we learn to modify ourselves to fit in with the demands of others. We can lose touch with how we feel and what is important to us.
Working together we can gain greater insight and understanding of your experience; exploring your situation and what it means for you. Through this dialogue new possibilities can emerge, increasing your awareness of different choices you could choose to make in you life and relationships.
I work with individuals, offering both short-term counselling and longer term therapy, depending on what you are looking for from our work together.
Please look at my website to get more information about me and my practice.
What to do next
If you would like to enquire further please send me an email or give me a call. I do prefer to talk to you directly before arranging a first appointment and will usually call you back within 24 hours. If you have a preferred time e.g. after 6pm please let me know.
Our first appointment will give you the chance to meet me and to see if what I have to offer is right for you, and for me to understand what you want to get out of therapy. Above all, it is important that you choose someone you feel comfortable enough with. If you decide working with me fits for you, then appointments are usually weekly at a regular time.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have been working in private practice for over ten years now, although have only been in the North East for three years, having relocated from Hampshire. I offer both short term counselling and longer term psychotherapy.
Previously I have gained extensive experience of working within the NHS, offering time-limited counselling to people experiencing depression and anxiety.
I also have experience of working within an agency offering both open-ended therapy and short term work. Here I specialised in working with trauma underlying struggles with substance misuse.
Working with bereaved children and adults as a volunteer in a bereavement service, I also trained volunteers to work with children. Employed by Naval Welfare, I also have experience of supporting Naval Personnel and their families.
