About me

I respect that you are here today because you have something weighing on your mind, perhaps you are wrestling with uncomfortable thoughts, raw feelings or intense emotions, from a current or longer-term issue or experience, causing you pain or hurt.

Maybe you’ve tried to resolve the situation by yourself, but it’s not worked and you are seeking therapy for the first time, or perhaps you are returning to therapy to continue your journey.

I have experienced the fear, the joy, the highs and the lows, the frustrations and the stuckness that being a client can bring, and I have used these experiences, together with my own life experiences and the intensive training I have undergone, to become an insightful qualified Integrative Therapist, who also practices Attachment, Parts and Inner Child therapy at my Insights Therapy practice.

This means that I can actively bring in ideas, concepts and practical resources to our sessions to help us work together in a way that is both unique to your needs and well-paced to support your progress, using creativity when sometimes words don’t come easily.

My therapy with you is built on foundations of transparency, respect, valuing you as a person, collaborating with you in our work together, and you will only ever get the authentic, real me. I will not rush you or ask you to speak of anything you don’t wish to.

I am here to provide a warm, sincere and accepting space to you, away from the noise in your life, where I can offer you my time, care and attentiveness to help you find your way.

Experiencing the authentic you emerge from the problem or adversity you are currently facing and begin to thrive, is close to my heart and something I care deeply about.

Reaching out for support isn’t always easy – if and when you do feel ready to talk, I am committed to responding as quickly as possible, so you don’t have to face things alone for longer than necessary.

Training, qualifications & experience

Qualifications & Training

I have a BACP Accredited Foundation Degree (FdA) in Counselling, passed with Distinction awarded by University of Wales, Trinity St Davids, which includes working online and phone accreditation.

I invest in a lot of continuous professional development in areas of special interest including bereavement, childhood issues, shame and trauma.

My special interest lies in developing Attachment, Parts, and Inner Child Psychotherapy which is an ongoing process through my level 6 training.

My training has also helped me become creative in my approach, from using metaphors and stories to integrating artwork into my counselling practice and I can use a range of resources within sessions to support your progress.

My Professional Experience

I work part time as as a Therapist in my own private practice.

I also counsel clients on a part-time basis for Get the Boys a Lift, a Pembrokeshire Counselling Service.

I am an experienced Bereavement support volunteer.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

About the Insights Therapy room

The Insights Therapy room is on the first floor, within a well-positioned building within the town of Carmarthen with easy transport access within walking distance.

It has been carefully and thoughtfully designed to make you feel as welcome, safe and comfortable as possible. Botanically inspired, enriching plants, lots of light, calming colours and a fresh glass of water wait to settle you in, ready for our session to start.

About therapy

I offer short, medium, or long-term counselling, in-person at my Insights Therapy room or online with sessions available weekly or fortnightly depending on your needs.

I usually hold sessions at the same time each week throughout weekdays, but I appreciate not everyone can do daytime appointments, so I also offer later evening appointments on weekdays.

I also recognise that sessions on the same day and time each week may not work for everyone, for example, if you do shift work, so I can offer a flexible approach to scheduling to meet your needs and commitments.

The next step

Reaching out for support isn’t always easy – if and when you do feel ready to talk, I am committed to responding as quickly as possible, so you don’t have to face things alone for longer than necessary.

My commitment to ethical practice

I am a registered Counsellor with the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and work within their code of ethics.

I am professionally supervised by an experienced BACP registered supervisor.

As outlined above, I continue to attend training, specialist workshops and master classes to ensure that I maintain delivery of the best clinical practice and both meet and exceed my BACP registration minimum annual training requirements.

I am fully insured and have a clear enhanced DBS certificate.

I am registered with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office), and am on the ICO’s Data Protection Essentials register, having completed their data protection core training.
