About me
Hello, I’m Tanya. My counselling practice specialises in helping adults impacted by Challenging Relationship Dynamics, Trauma and Gender-Based Aggression or Harm. I also help clients with a number of difficulties such as grief, anxiety and low mood.
Challenging Relationship Dynamics can cover issues such as communication difficulties, trust issues, power imbalances, people pleasing, recurring patterns, boundary setting, control, co-dependency or relationship burnout.
Experiences of Trauma can come in many forms, but can cover issues such as childhood trauma, grief and loss, single event trauma, domestic or family violence and physical, emotional or sexual abuse.
Gender-Based Aggression or Harm can cover issues such as discrimination, coercion, sexual harassment, sexual violence, sexism, emotional abuse, everyday aggressions, harmful gender role expectations and gender oppression.
Many of these experiences and challenges may also be linked to feelings of anxiety or depression.
If you would like counselling to help you with these or any other issues, I can offer you:
- A safe and confidential space to talk about your experiences at your pace.
- Empathic listening and validation of your experiences without judgment.
- Support to understand patterns and dynamics in your relationships.
- Support in developing healthier boundaries and communication skills.
- Help to process traumatic memories safely and at a pace that feels right for you.
- Exploration of your values, needs and identity in relationships and life.
- Support to rebuild self-esteem and trust in yourself and others.
- A space to explore and challenge internalised beliefs shaped by trauma or gender expectations.
- A collaborative therapeutic relationship that helps you move towards healing and empowerment.
- A compassionate and trauma-informed approach tailored to your unique situation.
In our sessions together, I offer a compassionate approach and aim to make you feel at ease. I hope that we can build a trusting and respectful therapeutic relationship together so that you can speak freely at a pace that feels right for you.
Our first session will allow you to discuss your needs and consider if you think I am the right counsellor for you. I will also be able to find out more about you and tell you more about the counselling process during this session.
If you are considering counselling, please contact me for more information or to book an initial session. You can email me at: thcounsellingservice@gmail.com

Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified professional counsellor. I hold a First Class BSc (Hons) Degree in counselling and an FdSc Degree in counselling from Bath Spa University. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and hold an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate. My professional experience includes counselling adults in private practice and in a charity setting, and counselling children in a school setting in the South-West of England. I have worked with people experiencing a number of difficulties, including depression, grief & loss, stress, low mood, anxiety, relationship problems, difficult life changes and transitions, childhood abuse, domestic abuse, low self-esteem, low confidence and much more. I have completed training to work online as a counsellor, and I regularly partake in continued professional development workshops, training and events to maintain my competency as a counsellor and continuously enhance my skills and knowledge.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
