Counsellor and Psychotherapist MBACP AdDip MA (Hons)

About me

Hello, my name is Tamara and I offer both face-to-face and online counselling sessions.

I'm an experienced counsellor who has worked with adults and young adults from a wide variety of backgrounds. I trained with the Counselling Foundation and am a registered member of the BACP, listed on their approved register of counsellors.

Experience & Specialism:

I've worked with people facing a range of difficulties, including anxiety; depression; panic attacks; low self-esteem; neurodiversity (ADHD, Autism and OCD); trauma; abuse; relationship challenges; bereavement and loss; life transitions (family, health and hormonal changes, new job and retirement); suicidal thoughts and feelings; alcohol and drug use. I bring a wealth of experience to each session, which helps me tailor my support to you as an individual.

I also work for a well-known charity based in Watford, supporting individuals facing financial hardship, anger management, complex PTSD and poor health, from a range of culturally diverse backgrounds.

How I can support you:

My role is to guide and support you and make sense of the challenges you're facing. I offer a calm, non-judgemental and safe space where we can work together to understand what's troubling you and what your triggers are.

Together, we can identify thoughts and behaviours - often formed in childhood - that affect your life today, and explore new tools to help you manage life's ups and downs.

What I find most rewarding is helping clients who feel stuck and unable to see a way out, find new ways to enjoy life again. We'll move at whatever pace feels right for you. Whatever you're going through, it can be shared and worked through together, in our weekly 50-minute sessions.

If you think I may be able to support you, please get in touch - I'd love to speak with you for a free 20-minute introductory call. In this session, we can talk through the kind of support you're looking for, and you're welcome to ask me any questions you might have.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained with the Counselling Foundation and am a registered member of the BACP, listed on their approved register of counsellors (MBACP Registered 415766).

I am trained in psychodynamic therapy, and an experienced counsellor supporting adults and young adults from a variety of backgrounds.

I am interested in how early life experiences and relationships may be influencing present-day difficulties.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
