About me
Hello, I am Tayou Chiu. As a BACP registered integrative psychotherapist, I adhere to its Ethical Framework. I see clients in person at the Talking Health Monument and HQ Therapy Haggerston.
Life is full of abundant experiences, including its ups and downs. You may find yourself trapped in repetitive patterns, unsure of how to break free, or you might feel that something isn’t quite right but can’t articulate it.
Deciding to seek support is a significant step, whether you are tired of struggling, merely managing life, or aspiring for more.
My practice offers a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space where I am genuinely curious about how your life experiences have shaped who you are today. I aim to work relationally to help you understand your connections with yourself and others.
Born in Taiwan and living now in the UK, I have an understanding of navigating the complexities associated with cultural differences. I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals who feel marginalised by heteronormative and cisnormative societal norms.
Training, qualifications & experience
My professional background includes work within the NHS and the Third Sector, where I have supported individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, and sexual health issues. Specialising in issues related to anxiety, low self-esteem, identity, sexuality, and trauma, I am committed to furthering my expertise. I hold a postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling and am completing an accredited MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy (UKCP) at the Metanoia Institute in London. I am also a proud ally of the LGBTQ+ community.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
