About me
Hi, my name is Suzy Sunter, and I am a person centred counsellor. I offer a safe, supportive, confidential, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace.
My approach is rooted in the core principles of person-centred therapy, which values empathy, authenticity, and acceptance. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you with compassion and understanding, helping you make sense of your experiences and support you to move toward greater self-awareness and self-acceptance. I won’t tell you what to think or how feel, instead, I’ll support you in discovering what’s right for you.
While person-centred counselling is at the heart of how I work, I also have substantial experience delivering cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) skills within the NHS, supporting people struggling with anxiety and depression.
When appropriate and if you would like me to, I integrate CBT-informed skills and techniques into my counselling work, which can be helpful in managing difficult thoughts and feelings alongside deeper exploration.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

My standard price is £40/session. I offer a limited number of concessionary places, for which there may be a waitlist. Please feel free to speak with me about this.
I offer a 20 minute, no-obligation chat online or by telephone for free so that you can get a feel for whether you can work with me.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are typically weekly or fortnightly based on client need and preference. Please get in touch to discuss current availability.
