About me

Are you:

  • Neurodiverse (Autistic or ADHD) or suspect you might be?
  • Feeling anxious or low more than usual?
  • Experiencing burn out - feeling exhausted, shut down, hopeless, empty, numb, withdrawing from social interaction or struggling to complete daily activities?
  • Finding family, romantic or friend relationships difficult and wanting to understand why and how to change?
  • Feeling lonely, stuck, lost, overwhelmed, overthinking, not good enough or not sure who you are any more?
  • Find it difficult to manage your emotions, maybe feeling too much or sometimes feeling numb and disconnected?
  • Interested in understanding how your past experiences may be affecting the present day?
  • Feeling conflicted about your identity or experiencing gender dysphoria?
  • Maybe when you were younger you experienced trauma, abuse or loss and are seeking to make sense of those experiences?
  • Experiencing flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, dissociation or avoidance of traumatic memories?
  • An expat or third culture kid and struggling to make sense of your identity or a recent move or transition?

If you answer yes to any of these questions I can help you.

I am a Counselling Psychologist and psychodynamic psychotherapist with over ten years of experience of working with children, young people and adults. My therapeutic approach integrates a variety of therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic, CBT, EMDR, somatic awareness, inner child work and compassion focused work, as needed. I aim to work collaboratively and in a way that is directed by you, responding to the issues and concerns you feel are important to discuss.

Therapy offers a supportive, non-judgemental space to reflect on and process past and current experiences, to come to new understandings and find new ways of thinking and relating to others.

Clients I have worked with often say that therapy helps them to:

  • Feel calm and stable more of the time
  • Have a better sense of who they are: they like themselves more and trust that others can like and appreciate them
  • Feel present, connected to and able to manage their emotions
  • Able to use healthy coping strategies to soothe distress and anxiety
  • Feel more motivated and able to engage with work and activities that they like
  • No longer feel stuck in situations relationships or behaviours
  • Believe they can overcome difficult situations
  • Are aware of their values and how life has meaning for them

I am aware that asking for help can be a challenging step, so well done for taking it. I also have certainty that therapy can help people to understand themselves and to create the change that they desire, and I look forward to working with you to undertake that.

Training, qualifications & experience

Qualifications:

Doctorate in Counselling Psychology
MSc Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy with Children and Adolescents
Certificate in CBT with children and adolescents
Certificate in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for Trauma Themes, Level 1
Certificate in EMDR

I have experience of working with a wide range of issues, including trauma, gender dysphoria, transitions, difficulties with attention and emotion regulation, neurodiversity, anxiety, depression and difficulties with relationships.

I worked abroad for several years in Rwanda and Azerbaijan and specialise in the experience of expats and third culture kids. For the past 4 years I have been working in the UK in private practice and the NHS with clients experiencing gender dysphoria, trauma and negotiating being neurodiverse in a neurotypical world.

I identify as a Cis woman and use the pronouns She/Her. I affirm an individual's right to decide and create their identity how they wish. I aim to prioritise subjective experience and understand that individual experiences are affected by systemic factors relating to race, sexuality, ableism, class and culture and that it is important to take these into consideration.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
