About me

Are you experiencing anxiety, depression, low mood, relationship issues, anger, grief or want to process unresolved trauma from your childhood? I have experience of working with all of these and together we can explore in a safe, accepting and non-judgemental space. I will seek to create a strong therapeutic relationship which will allow you the safety and trust you need to unpick and understand your current situation, patterns and relationships and work towards building stronger foundations.

I work from a person-centred approach which means first and foremost I believe in you. I believe in your capacity to grow to your full potential given the right circumstances. I will provide you with an empathic, non-judgmental space and we will form a therapeutic alliance that will allow and encourage you to live life to it's fullest.

I know from personal experience that starting out on the therapeutic journey can be tough and nerve-wracking but I also know the huge rewards it can bring and how life changing it can be. You just need to take the first step.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Testimonials

"I contacted Susan when I was in the midst of a particularly difficult family situation and also at a bit of a crossroads in my life. Susan's warm, calm and attentive manner made me feel immediately at ease and she supported me to give voice to my thoughts and emotions in order to work through the challenges I was experiencing. While we covered a lot of ground in the first few sessions, I was finding them so helpful that I continued on for a number of months and, aided by Susan's thoughtful reflections and questions, was able to gain a deeper understanding of some of my patterns of thinking and of relating to others. This awareness has had a really positive impact on my wellbeing and relationships and I'm really grateful for the insights that I've gained through my sessions with Susan and wouldn't hesitate to recommend her as a counsellor."
