About me

Hello, are you looking for someone to talk to and who will help you when you need it most? Someone who will really listen to you, who is compassionate and kind and who cares about you? With 17 years’ experience as a counsellor, I hope I can be that person.

I offer a healing counselling relationship built on a foundation of safety and mutual trust, without judgement, which means we can explore together what is causing you pain or unhappiness, whether it’s wounds from your past or more current struggles.

If you have repeated times of low mood, anxiety or depression, this is likely to be a cycle, where unresolved memories and experiences constantly rise to the surface asking to be honoured and healed, only to recede for a time until the pain of carrying them becomes too much and they emerge again

Trauma happens to us in relationships with the people around us from our earliest experiences as a tiny baby and throughout our lives. It is known as relational trauma and is something we all experience to some degree and which affects our ability to live our lives fully and to be the person we are truly meant to be.

I offer counselling as your companion on your journey, walking alongside you as we explore together what has happened, how it has affected you, and how your experience can be honoured, understood and healed. We all have the answers within us, and my role is to listen, to respond kindly, supportively and knowledgeably and to help you make sense of what has happened and has led to you feeling as you do.

I also work as a Healer, being a Reiki Master and Teacher, Pranic Healer and Crystal Healer. Whilst I never insist on incorporating healing, my clients will usually have some sessions of healing interspersed with their counselling as this helps in working with the spiritual and energetic mind and body as well as the physical mind and body for a deeper, more wholistic and integrated experience, since it activates and utilises the innate healing ability of our body and mind

A healing counselling relationship offers you a journey back to connection, hope, meaning and wholeness.

This is a journey I have had to take many times over my own 61 years of life and I have grown stronger and, I hope, wiser each time! A life-saving operation, which ironically led to my death briefly in 2022, became the catalyst for further change in my life for the better and required a falling away of so much that I thought I knew. I bring all of my experience to my counselling and healing work, knowing that everyone is doing the best they can with the emotional and psychological tools they have at their disposal, and the support, or lack of support, around them.

We all have the answers within us, and my role is to listen, to respond kindly and supportively as you tell your story, to sit with you whilst you explore what feels wrong in your life. I use my professional training and personal experience to help you to understand what has happened and why it has affected you, to provide a safe space for your feelings to be felt and heard, so that you can truly heal. With this understanding and perspective, through honouring yourself and your experience, peace and happiness will return but it’s important to do this work honestly and openly, for your sake, so that you can rebuild on safer and stronger foundations for the future.

Please do feel free to contact me by email or text to arrange an initial chat so that you can decide if I’m the right counsellor for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

Generally, counselling and healing sessions last for 60 minutes and are weekly.

If you wish to mix counselling and healing sessions as appropriate, in addition to longer or more frequent sessions, please feel free to ask. Extended sessions up to 2 hours may be available, charged hourly as above.

Further information

At present, I am only able to offer telephone or online counselling to individuals. I find that this works well, particularly if you have limited time or don’t wish to travel to and from your counselling sessions. This means you can spend time processing and reflecting on your session and allowing any feelings to come naturally instead of having to drive home, catch a bus, etc, without this precious time to integrate what has been shared.
