Sue Cussons MA, Counsellor and Psychotherapist (MBACP)
Life can feel stressful and problematic, either in the short- or long-term. If you need to talk through some of your difficulties, then I provide an environment which is compassionate and accepting. I will give you space and opportunity to process things through, helping you to make sense of your situation and to understand yourself better; and help you to work through difficulties towards resolution. I think of the counselling process as a voyage of self-discovery; and this provides an investment into your future well-being and happiness.
I work on a one-to-one basis with adults over 18 years old; and I have experience of working with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, anger, bereavement and loss, depression, feelings of rejection, relationship problems, self-esteem, stress, unresolved past issues, to name but a few.
Some people seek counselling because they're currently experiencing a "glitch" in their lives where things seem to be going wrong; others have experienced psychological distress for a long time; still others find that issues from the past are affecting their functioning in the present. I can help you to explore any of these. I can use a variety of approaches to suit differing needs and temperament types; and I am continually adding to my knowledge-base. Some people want a faith-based approach, which I am qualified to provide where appropriate.
Sessions are generally 50-60 minutes; but the first session is used as a consultation; to see if I can best meet your needs at this time; and for you to see if you can work with me. The therapeutic relationship is very important, and it must feel right. There will be no charge for this first session; and it will be approximately 30-45 minutes long.
