About me
People come to psychotherapy for a wide variety of reasons. Sometimes just finding a way through difficult life events can seem impossible, and we can find ourselves stuck in patterns of relationships which feel unhealthy, or struggling to deal with events in our past or present. And the feelings we experience can seem overwhelming and very confusing. I offer a safe and supportive space to explore what's happening, and to help uncover the way through these times of being stuck or overwhelmed.
I work clients who are experiencing depression, overwhelming anxiety, grief and loss, the effects of early trauma and with relationship issues. I also have considerable clinical experience of working with clients with ADHD, ASD and other expressions of neurodiversity. My practice is conducted in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct of my Accrediting Body (UKCP) and Member Organisation (BCPC) .
Training, qualifications & experience
After many years working for a multinational corporation, I completed a UKCP accredited Masters and diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy with Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC). I have been working with people in difficulty and distress for over 15 years - in private practice since 2014, and prior to that in an agency helping people recovering from problems with drug and alcohol use. I also volunteered with, and helped to manage a local organisation providing support to those who are distressed and suicidal. My experiences, both in the charitable sector and in the commercial world, have given me a certain perspective on the pressures and the distractions of work.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
