About me
Since 1997 I have worked in private practice as a counsellor and psychotherapist. I am available for consultation in Enfield Town and Palmers Green.
I have over 25 years of experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist and have worked with people facing a wide range of issues and problems.
I am most frequently consulted by people dealing with relationship issues. Relationships whether intimate or in the world of work and business - can not only be a source of joy and fulfillment but can also confront us with some of our most difficult challenges.
In recent years I have seen a big increase in people who have sought my help with anxiety and/or depression. Sometimes they have been formally diagnosed with Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, or panic attacks. As with relationship issues, I have developed a specialisation in this area and have successfully helped many people to overcome these debilitating problems and regain their enjoyment of life.
The third area of my specialism is personal development and achieving optimum performance. Most people know exactly what they need to do. Maybe it's leaving a toxic relationship, perhaps leaving a job where you feel undervalued and unfulfilled. Perhaps you want to eat healthily and get more exercise but just can't seem to stick to your plans. Often it seems that despite knowing what you need to do, you just can't find the way forward and seem stuck in repetitive cycles. Working together we can uncover the blocks that hinder your progress and start you on the road to a more successful and rewarding life. By uncovering your meaning and purpose you can end procrastination and unlock your drive and motivation
My Approach to Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I focus on creating a safe and confidential space where you can honestly explore your issues and concerns. I believe that people are wonderfully complex and cannot be reduced to one particular psychological theory or orientation. The label that I use to describe my approach is ‘integrative’. This term comes closest to describing the broad range of approaches that I have studied and use in my practice. They include:
Transpersonal and Existential psychotherapy.
Process Oriented Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
I am committed to my ongoing personal development and have completed three terms of personal psychotherapy.
If you would like any further information please phone or email and I will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
Supervision
I am a fully qualified clinical supervisor and I currently provide supervision for several counselling organisations and a number of individual psychotherapists and counsellors. Please contact me by phone or email if you would like to discuss your supervision requirements.
Training & Group Facilitation
I have facilitated several psychotherapy and personal development groups. I have provided training, workshops, courses, and seminars on a wide range of mental health, wellbeing, and personal development subjects, including:
Stress and Anxiety Reduction.
Bereavement
Suicide and self-harm.
Food and Mood
Eating Disorders
Relationship Issues.
Anger Management
Mindfulness Meditation
Training, qualifications & experience
Before qualifying as a psychotherapist, I worked as an entrepreneur and as a sales and negotiation trainer. I was awarded my postgraduate diploma in 1997 by the CCPE (Centre for Counselling & Psychotherapy Education). I am a member of the UKCP. I also hold a postgraduate diploma in 'counselling and psychotherapy supervision'.
In addition to my private practice, I have worked as a counsellor within the NHS and for several mental health charities.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
