About me
Welcome
Life brings seasons that can feel heavy to carry alone - grief, infertility, anxiety, health challenges, and difficult transitions. I offer a safe, supportive space where you can be seen, heard, and understood without judgment.
About me
I’m Sorayya, a qualified counsellor (MBACP) with a PG Dip in Counselling and psychotherapy, offering therapy for adults and couples experiencing infertility, grief, anxiety, and life transitions. I provide a warm, non-judgmental space where you can explore your emotions and find the support you need.
My approach
I am an integrative counsellor, which means I adapt therapy to your needs. Core to my practice is a person-centred ethos - I believe you are the expert in your life, and my role is to walk alongside you with empathy and care. Depending on what feels right, I may use Compassion-Focused Therapy, CBT, or Attachment Theory.
I also offer culturally and faith-informed counselling, recognising how identity, culture, and spirituality can shape our experiences of emotional pain and healing. Sessions are available in English, Urdu, Punjabi, and Potwari.
You might come to therapy because you feel a bit stuck or a sense that things aren't quite right. Areas I work with
- Bereavement and grief
- Anxiety, stress, and inner distress
- Relationship and family issues
- Infertility, pregnancy loss, and fertility-related challenges
- Identity and self-esteem
- Long-term health conditions and hormonal transitions, such as peri-menopause.
Professional background
With a background in the non-profit sector, early years education and social enterprise across Yorkshire, I carry a deep understanding of diverse communities and the barriers many face in accessing emotional support.
I have worked with Marie Curie, The Cellar Trust, and Cruse Bereavement Support, where I continue as a volunteer counsellor. My practice is grounded in professional ethics, regular supervision, and ongoing training.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
