About me

I work with people all over the UK via Zoom. I also offer face to face appointments in my therapy room in Tring town centre, and Walk and Talk sessions in Aston Clinton.

Sometimes you might be feeling sad or anxious, feel that life is difficult, distressing or challenging, maybe not working out as you had hoped it would, or that you are stuck in a way of living that is causing you stress and unhappiness. Talking to friends, family or colleagues can often help. Maybe you don’t want to burden them, don’t have anyone to talk to, or maybe they’re part of the problem. Sometimes we need someone who is outside of the situation, who will really listen to us and our concerns and work with us to help us sort things out, so that we can feel better.

If you’re struggling with things in your life, past, present or future, or you’re not even sure what the problem is, counselling might be the help and support you need.

I am a qualified Trauma Informed Integrative Counsellor. Rather than just sticking to just one counselling model, I use different ideas and techniques to suit you, incorporating the link between brain and body. I work collaboratively with you. Sessions can be a single one, just a few in number, or on a longer-term basis.

I work with individuals, whether adults, young people also with couples.

I offer a friendly, secure and confidential space where you can be understood and valued.

I offer a free initial 20 minute meeting, or a 50 minute first session charged at £40, so that you can meet me before you decide. This will give you the opportunity to ask any questions you might have and is without any obligation to continue.

I work with clients by telephone and via video call (usually Zoom), in person appointments in my therapy room in Tring, and also offer in person Walk and Talk sessions in Aston Clinton.

Please get in touch either with me by telephone or e-mail if you are interested in learning more or to arrange an initial appointment.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), an Accredited Professional member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and have a Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling.

I have a special interest in working with Trauma and PTSD / Complex Trauma / C-PTSD, and have completed extensive Post Graduate training in this area. I work with both adults and young people who have experienced trauma, incorporating the link between brain and body in our work.

I work with a 3 phased approach, incorporating brain-body based therapy to help process and release your trauma. By carrying out a thorough assessment we can understand what has happened in your life and the impact of this (whether a one off traumatic event, or a number of traumatic experiences). Through psychoeducation you can better understand what is going on for you, in response to your trauma. We will work on safety and stabilisation techniques to help you feel more able to manage, before working together to process your trauma. We will discuss what feels right for you as my approach is tailored to your individual experience. I aim to help you to build resilience and support you to work out how you can move forward more positively with your life.

I am trained in Brainspotting (Phase 1, 2 and 3) and Rewind Therapy. We can integrate these into our work if you would like to.

I also have a special interest in working with young people. I have extensive clinical experience working in this area. As well as my private practice, I work with local senior and primary schools offering one to one counselling to their pupils, as well as with some staff too.

Issues I have dealt with include anxiety, ASD, bullying, abuse, low self-esteem, anger, work/life balance, fertility, alcohol, long term illness and it's impact, trauma, PTSD and Complex PTSD (C-PTSD), school/life stress, self-harm, suicidal ideation, low mood and feeling sad, depression, social anxiety, anxiety disorders, body image, low self confidence, disordered eating (including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, ARFID), performance anxiety and trauma, chronic fatigue, family issues, friendship and relationship issues, loss and bereavement, illness, panic attacks, fear as well as many other areas.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
