About me

We can from time to time, find ourselves experiencing a wide range of difficulties. It could be anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, grief, relationship problems or just a sense that you do not feel good enough, despite your best efforts.
In my experience, some of these problems are often interlinked and so, getting to the root of what is going on for you can feel overwhelming to navigate.

I understand that this can feel incredibly isolating, and as if no one seems to understand you or how you are feeling.  Which more often than not, heightens our anxiety and low mood.  You are not alone, and I am here to help you.

I believe that having a safe space to talk and work through the difficult thoughts and feelings that might arise for you, with someone impartial to your life, has the healing power to transform how you think and feel about yourself, how you navigate life's challenges, and how you relate to others.

My aim as your counsellor is to listen to you without judgement, guide you towards a better understanding of you, be with you as you explore any difficult feelings that may arise, and guide you towards an empowered sense of change.

My Approach
I am a person-centred counsellor and my approach is rooted in the belief that you are the expert of 'you', and trust that the therapeutic relationship we build together, will enable you to unlock your innate wisdom and inner resources.  I will sometimes offer to work creatively, or introduce theoretical models (sometimes referred to as 'psychological education') to develop your understanding of your experiences  But this will only ever be an option.  I will follow your lead.

I offer a free, initial 30 minute telephone session so we can explore the possibility of working together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I studied for four years towards my level 4 diploma.  In addition I have considerable experience working with bereavement, grief and loss and continue to volunteer as a Bereavement counsellor, helping individuals through their grief.  I have also worked in the mental health industry as a crisis recovery worker.

  • I commit to regular CPD to enhance my safe and ethical practise.
  • I am also registered with the ICO.
  • Level 2 Certificate in Counselling
  • Level 3 Certificate in Counselling
  • Level 4 Diploma in therapeutic Counselling

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
