About me
I'm Sophie, a Counselling Psychologist registered with the HCPC and accredited with the BACP.
People usually come to me when something with their relationships isn't quite working. That can either be a painful ending, a pattern you can't seem to shift or maybe a sense that you deserve more from your relationship than you're getting. What I hope you feel from the first conversation is that you can relax and that there's space here to access the parts of yourself that are harder to reach alone. You're fully in the driver's seat and I'm just here to make that possible.
Over the past few years I've worked across the NHS, the charity sector, and private practice. I work primarily with young people and adults navigating relationships, life transitions, anxiety, and questions of identity and self-worth.
My approach to therapy is integrative, tailored to your unique needs. If you're seeking support for a specific issue, I can offer structured, evidence-based psychological therapy. If you're unsure where to begin, we'll spend the first few sessions exploring together how I can best support you.
I most commonly draw upon psychodynamic, existential, and person-centred approaches. However, if you're looking for more structured, active, task-based therapy, I also have training in CBT and CFT.
I offer 50-minute sessions online meaning we can connect from wherever you feel most comfortable.
If you're considering therapy and would like to see whether we're the right fit for each other, I offer a free initial conversation. I look forward to hearing from you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a registered member with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). I have completed the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at City, University of London.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
