About me
Hello, I'm Sophie. Welcome to my profile. I offer face - to - face Humanistic counselling, in a peaceful rural setting. I provide counselling to individuals over the age of 18.
How I Work
I offer a safe, non-judgemental holding environment and my approach is based in person-centred theory. This means that you lead the direction of the sessions and how our work together develops. I am here to support you, while we work collaboratively through whichever issues you are facing. I passionately believe that experiencing 'unconditional positive regard' and empathetic listening from a non-judgemental place, can really help to empower you in life and feel more able to state your needs. I place great value on the therapeutic relationship, and recognise how important it is that I am a good fit for you as your therapist.
How Counselling Can Help You
"The meaning of life is to help others find meaning in theirs." - Viktor Frankl.
There are not many opportunities in life where you may feel comfortable enough and at liberty to share how you truly feel, and not have to worry about either facing judgement over what you are saying, or concern about what the impact may be on the other person. Counselling can be this space. I will offer you the scaffolding to realise your potential. I believe that you already have everything that you need inside of you. Offering you a safe space to be listened to from a place of empathy, can help you to gain clarity about what is troubling you. It can also help you to realise the potential you already have to be the architect of your own healing; I provide you with the right 'growing' conditions.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
