About me
I'm Sneha, a fully qualified integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, and I provide counselling to those who are 18 and above.
I was brought up in a culture where mental health was never acknowledged, and it inspired me to create a space where seeking support is encouraged. In today's fast-paced life, it can be natural to feel alone or disconnected, even when we're surrounded by people. But you don't have to carry everything on your own; it's okay to reach out.
I work with clients on a range of issues mentioned in the "Areas of Counselling" section, and I specialise in work-based and LGBTQIA+ counselling.
Here are some of the steps you may see during the initial stages of our work together. These vary from person to person, and this is by no means an exhaustive list, but they might give you an idea of my approach.
- Building a warm and supportive relationship so that you may feel comfortable being yourself.
- Breaking things down into smaller and more manageable chunks, working through them one step at a time.
- Respecting your preference to lead the session, or providing more guidance if that's what feels right for you.
- Setting the pace together, and exploring what feels right for you, but only when you're ready.
Whether you're attending therapy for the first time or trying a different therapist, feel free to get in touch if you'd like to see if we're a good fit.
Training, qualifications & experience
Here's a list of my training and qualifications:
- MSc in Counselling
- BSc (Hons) in Psychology with Counselling Skills
- MBACP- Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
As for my experience, I have been practising as a counsellor for over two years, working with NHS employees, clients from charities, and in the creative industries. Alongside counselling, I have experience in mentoring and coaching. I have also worked in a variety of support roles, which highlighted the importance of mental health to me.
As part of my professional practice, I engage in regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development (CPD) to ensure my work remains safe, ethical and informed by current research.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
