About me

I believe that each therapeutic relationship is unique and deserves its own space and understanding. This means that as a Counselling Psychologist, I am trained in a variety of psychological approaches, allowing me to draw upon different approaches which might best suit you. Therapy gives us the chance to talk about experiences and feelings that are most distressing to us within a safe, private and confidential space.

I offer support to a wide range of mental and emotional difficulties and experiences, with a specialised interest in disordered eating/eating disorders. My aim is to fully understand all aspects of past experiences and present contexts to reflect on motivations for seeking support and to help you find meaning and survive difficult experiences.

I understand therapy itself can be a daunting experience and would like to support you on this journey by providing a safe, empathetic and compassionate space. I hope that you will gain new insight and perspectives which will allow us to progress at a pace that best suits you. If you would like to find out more, please feel free to contact me to discuss.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have over eight years of clinical experience and thirteen years of academic experience in psychology, including a BA with majors in Psychology and Criminology, two MScs in Psychology and Health Psychology and a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology.

I am trained in a wide variety of approaches, such as cognitive-behavioural (CBT) approaches, including Enhanced CBT (CBT-E) specifically for eating disorders, existential therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic and Somatic Informed Therapeutic approaches and the Maudsley Model of Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults (MANTRA). I draw on all the various approaches to tailor my sessions according to what each individual client might need at the time. I am also a chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
