About me

Simone Simms, BSc(Hons) MBACP Person-Centred Integrative Counsellor (Psychodynamic Influence)

You might be coping on the outside, but inside things feel heavy or hard to make sense of. Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or just not quite like yourself and you're looking for a space where things can begin to make sense. If that feels familiar, you don't have to face it alone.

I'm Simone, and I offer warm, non-judgemental counselling for adults navigating anxiety, low mood, burnout, trauma, or difficulties with relationships and self-esteem. My approach is collaborative and goes at your pace, there's no pressure to have everything figured out before we begin.

Together we'll explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences with clarity and compassion. Where it's helpful, I may gently look at patterns or past experiences, while always keeping the focus on what feels most important to you right now. I also draw on simple grounding and awareness tools where these feel useful (always with your consent).

Areas I can support with:

Anxiety, panic and overwhelm
Low mood and depression
Trauma and PTSD
Burnout and emotional exhaustion
Confidence, self-esteem and identity
Relationship and attachment difficulties
Loneliness and feeling disconnected
Anger and emotional regulation
Perfectionism
The emotional impact of domestic or narcissistic abuse

Professional background

Alongside private practice, I work as a trauma-focused counsellor within a VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls) organisation, supporting adults affected by trauma and ongoing emotional stress. I have also worked in a community counselling service providing time-limited therapy to adults with a wide range of emotional and relational difficulties.

I am a BACP Registered Member (MBACP) and hold a BSc in Integrative Counselling. My work is supported by regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Person-Centred Integrative Counsellor with a psychodynamic influence, and a BACP Registered Member (MBACP). I hold a BSc in Integrative Counselling and bring over 15 years of experience in counselling and therapeutic support with adults.

Alongside my private practice, I currently provide trauma-focused counselling within a VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls) organisation, supporting adults who have experienced trauma, ongoing stress, burnout and complex relational difficulties. This work has significantly developed my trauma-informed practice and my ability to hold a safe, carefully paced therapeutic space.

I also have experience working in a community counselling service, providing time-limited therapy to adults presenting with a wide range of emotional and relational difficulties, work that strengthened my assessment skills and my ability to work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds.

I receive regular individual clinical supervision and undertake ongoing professional development in trauma-informed practice, safeguarding and emotional wellbeing. I practise in line with the BACP Ethical Framework.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
