About me
Hi, I’m Sim. A UKCP registered, qualified psychotherapist, experienced in working with children, young people and adults.
It can be hard to know where to start when trying to choose the right therapy and therapist, especially if you’re struggling. By reading my profile, hopefully you’ll get a better sense of how I can help you and how we’ll work together to overcome the challenges you may be facing.
Are you suffering with anxiety, depression, grief/loss, stress, relationship issues, unhealthy patterns of behaviour, unhelpful deep-seated beliefs, or something else? If so, therapy can help.
I’m experienced in supporting people to overcome these difficulties, as well as specialising in trauma and adverse life experiences. Any of these issues may be preventing you from moving forward and living the life you want, so we'll work together to help you get to where you want to be in the most safe, ethical and effective way.
Many of my clients have commented on my warmth, empathetic nature and how easy they find it to open up to me; I pride myself on being a genuine, non-judgemental and compassionate person/practitioner. I’ll be there to support and empower you to successfully navigate the changes in life you want to make.
Training, qualifications & experience
As 'Counsellor' and 'Psychotherapist' are not protected titles (like doctor, nurse, teacher, etc.), it's important to be fully informed about a therapist's training so you have the peace of mind that you're working with a qualified, professional and ethical practitioner. My qualifications include:
A Diploma in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (qualified with distinction) – an integrative course teaching a range of therapeutic modalities, including talking, creative/art and play therapies. This means our work will be bespoke and target your individual needs by being able to draw upon a variety of approaches. To be able to register with the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapists (UKCP), my training had to meet the highest standards and criteria. You can be sure that our work will be purposeful, effective and, most importantly, ethical and safe
An MSc in Psychotherapy (qualified with distinction) has helped deepen my interest, knowledge and skills in trauma-informed/focused therapy, and my training under the late, great Dr Mark Widdowson has given me the confidence and expertise to treat trauma and C/PTSD symptoms
I’m currently learning a new type of transformational therapy which is based on the latest research in neuroscience. It utilises a brain mechanism called memory reconsolidation to eliminate symptoms of ill mental health rather than just having to manage them
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I've helped clients overcome a range of issues, and would like to reassure you that I've undertaken additional training for, and have extensive experience working with, the specialities listed. I'm also currently learning a new type of transformational therapy, based on the latest research in neuroscience, which uses memory reconsolidation to eliminate symptoms of ill mental health completely.
