About me
Welcome! I appreciate that seeking out a therapist can be a big step and the thought of sharing your vulnerabilities with someone new can be daunting. It's completely okay to feel unsure about the process.
I am a Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, and Psychotherapist in advanced training. I provide one-to-one therapy sessions in person from my practice on the outskirts of Colchester, or online via Zoom to anybody residing within the UK. Therapy can be short, medium or long-term and is tailored to your presentation and needs.
I work with individuals aged 18 and over, offering a confidential and non-judgemental space to explore whatever is presenting itself to you. I do not currently work with couples or groups. I am also unable to work with adoption cases, active eating disorders or active psychosis.
I adhere to the ethical standards of the UKCP, BACP and Metanoia Institute.
Please see my website for further information on how we might work together and to contact me to arrange a free 15 minute introductory Zoom call. The enquiry form on the contact page also allows you to easily tick suitable time slots to indicate your availability for possible sessions.
Training, qualifications & experience
- Diploma (Level 6) Humanistic Psychotherapy
- Currently completing my Masters in Humanistic Psychotherapy
I have accumulated clinical experience from various settings and have had the extraordinary privilege of working with a diverse range of clients in accordance with my commitment to inclusive and anti-oppressive working. I consider myself to be dedicated, empathetic and personable, with my clients’ best interests always at the very heart of my practice.
I will not advise you on what to do, but will instead aid you to draw upon your own resources. As an integrative practitioner, I use a range of therapeutic models to tailor support in a way that feels right for you. I’m trained in three Humanistic modalities Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Person Centred, and I work relationally, seeing the relationship between therapist and client as a key component of meaningful change.
I further believe that each unique client is the expert on themselves, humans are to be understood as a whole (combining mind, body, soul, context and community) and people have essential worth and the capacity to overcome in the right conditions.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
