Client Testimonial

"Shim is an extremely approachable, knowledgeable, supportive and professional therapist. She provides a safe space for me to bring my reflections and thought provoking questions to discover underlying assumptions I may have of the world and myself. She's also very helpful in providing various forms of tools to help manage my anxiety and fully engaged in our sessions. I would highly recommend Shim as a Therapist".

How We Can Work Together

With a passion for fostering growth and resilience, I provide a safe and compassionate space for you to explore, understand, and navigate the challenges you may be facing. My therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and a deep respect for the uniqueness of each individual. I believe that everyone has the capacity for positive change, and my role is to guide and support you in unlocking your potential.

It can be intimidating to begin therapy with a new therapist, but I want every client to understand that we work as a team and that I aim to make the procedure as simple and worry-free for clients, so that all you have to do is concentrate on yourself and your journey.

I will take a more interactive approach rather than a traditional silent stance. I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey, and being actively engaged allows us to explore your thoughts and feelings more deeply. I’ll ask questions, share reflections, and offer observations to guide our discussions. Through open communication and collaboration, we will explore patterns, develop coping strategies, and foster a deeper understanding of the factors influencing your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

Our sessions will be a collaborative space where you bring the expertise and experiences on yourself and I bring the psychological expertise to provide you with a sense of empowerment, understanding, knowledge and a toolkit you can take into your everyday life to improve your current functioning and day to day dynamics. I use a flexible approach to ensure we meet your individual needs and goals within sessions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
