About me
Person Centred-Counsellor.
I am a progressive person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist based in Colchester, Essex. My extensive experience spans over two decades of working within various reputable therapeutic organisations across Essex and Suffolk. In this time I have been instrumental in helping adults and young people to positively turn their lives around by understanding and supporting individuals to express and explore their true nature.
No matter how complex a situation is, you will not face judgment from me. I have worked successfully with individuals who have suffered and experienced severe trauma including; anxiety, depression, sexual and domestic abuse, childhood neglect, relationship issues, loss and bereavement, divorce, drug and alcohol misuse, compulsive behaviours, family issues, ADHD, bullying, violence, guilt, self-harm, anger, low self-esteem, identity issues, PTSD and more.
On a personal level I am candidly open, honest, and possess a warm demeanour. I engage with my clients not only as a professional counsellor but also as a true person in order to permit and encourage others to be their authentic self too. This way genuine trust and solid working relationships can form which allows you to engage in matters fully and without fear.
Due to this approach my clients tend to find themselves over time becoming more integrated as a person and begin to make better informed choices for themselves. Ultimately, I am proud that as my clients gain fresh insights through therapy and a deeper understanding of themselves they often grow stronger and become more self assured. My clients tend to leave therapy carrying a much lighter and more manageable load in life.
Naturally, I am inclusive by nature and welcome individuals from the LBGTQ+ community. I am also Sex Positive and Kink allied.
I value the uniqueness of each person in relation to their life story and engage in therapy sensitively with deep respect for personal tolerances. My unassuming approach has worked well when engaging with individuals from within the autistic spectrum and with young people.
Whilst my practice draws from a humanistic perspective and is grounded in person-centred theory and practice, I am able offer alternative insights and work creatively from other theoretical and developmental perspectives if needed.
Feel free to get in touch for a no obligation 20-30minute free consultation by phone or by appointment at my private practice, Colchester Therapy, on the first floor of No.1 Church Street, Colchester (photos below).

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
