About me

Hello, my name is Shaun and welcome to my profile, I hope you find my details helpful. I'm a qualified, registered Counsellor & Psychotherapist located in a quiet area of Oadby, with plenty of parking, and Knighton Fields Rd East, 1.2 miles from the University of Leicester, 0.7 miles from Clarendon Park, and 1.8 miles from the Leicester Royal Infirmary, offering an initial telephone consultation FOC and reduced rates for those on a limited income. I provide a welcoming, warm, safe, non-judgemental space for people to talk, and have an up to date, enhanced CRB certificate and full indemnity insurance, GDPR compliant: 00045749944.

I have over 7 years clinical counselling experience working with young adults (18+) students and undergraduates, and over 11 years Psychotherapeutic clinical experience working with adults who present with an array of issues including, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, self harm and thoughts of suicide. My work typically tends to be around 6-12 sessions utilising CBT, Symbolisation and Solution Focused techniques for clients seeking counselling, and a more in depth Psychodynamic, Psychothereputic approach, which tends to explore childhood, adolescent and adulthood experiences over a longer period.

Most of us experience times in our lives when we feel low, worried or anxious. This might be because of specific difficulties such as anxiety, panic attacks or depression, it could also be a general sense of feeling down and simply not understanding why. Do you tend to constantly prioritise other people's needs over and above your own for example? Talking to a trained therapist offers you the opportunity to explore what concerns you might have in a confidential, non-judgemental setting with someone who explores what life events might have contributed to these feelings.

So whether you wish to book an appointment for one session, or decide to explore your thoughts and feelings further, I hope the following gives you an overview of what I'm competent to work with:

Adults, Young Adults/Students & Undergraduates/Postgraduates.

Depression - Suicidal Thoughts - Anxiety - Panic Attacks
Work Related Stress - difficult colleagues - ambition - career progression pressures
Abuse - sexual
Relationships - divorce - separation
Relationships - family - friends
Relationships - work colleagues
Sexuality & Identity
Self harm - cutting - alcohol
Low self- esteem Personality Disorder
Continual prioritisation of other people's 'needs’ over and above your own.

If climbing stairs is difficult, or you are a wheelchair user, I can meet with you at a different location should you wish.

I am a Registered, Accredtied Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and work in accordance with its ethical framework.
