About me

Shaun Lewis MBACP (Snr Accred) Registered Counsellor & Psychotherapist

Hello, my name is Shaun and welcome, thank you for visiting my profile.

I have over 17 years experience offering: Psychodynamic Counselling, Jungian, CBT, Solution Focused Counselling, Relationship Couples Counselling and Psychotherapy for adults and students (18+) from: Knighton Fields Road East, close to the University of Leicester. I offer face to face and online appointments from: 08:00-21:00, Monday to Friday, Saturday 09:00-13:00.

I also offer reduced fees for students and people on a limited income, and a free of charge telephone, online consultation.

Most of us experience times in our lives when we feel lost, worried or anxious. This might be because of specific difficulties such as: Anxiety, depression, bereavement, low self esteem and confidence. It could also be a general sense of feeling different and not fitting in or, feeling isolated, and lonely and not understanding why, and I have many years of experience helping people with these issues.

For counselling I use: CBT, Relationship Therapy and Solution Focused techniques, and for open ended Psychotherapy, I use Psychodynamic, Jungian modalities which explore, at a deeper level; childhood memories, dreams, relationship, attachment and developmental issues.

Your childhood experiences, dreams, memories and current feelings in the ‘here and now’ are uniquely personal. Talking to an experienced, accredited therapist offers you the opportunity to explore previously unresolved feelings, and behaviours that might have made you feel lost, confused and even ‘held you back’ for many years. I will always work with you as an individual and never as just another ‘client’.

I also work with couples (18+) regardless of sexuality and gender identity) who find it difficult to connect and maintain long term, intimate loving relationships. You might after a certain period of time, find yourself withdrawing from your partner, or you might be someone who finds it painful and anxiety provoking to be apart from them. Relationship counselling can help. Whether you find existing or new relationships difficult, or you feel insecure, lost, lonely, or have experienced Infidelity and domestic violence, please feel free to contact me for an initial free of charge telephone consultation to see how I can help.

I offer a free of charge telephone, online consultation to ensure you are comfortable speaking with me before booking a consultation session.

So whether you wish to book an appointment for one session, or you decide to explore your needs, thoughts and feelings further, I look forward to speaking with you. I hope the following gives you an overview of the areas I am competent to work with:

Short term counselling up to 12 sessions
Open ended Psychotherapy

Anxiety and panic attacks
Bereavement
Couples counselling
Childhood abuse and trauma
Depression
Night terrors, Dreams
Low self esteem, confidence
Relationships
Students (18+)

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
