About me

How Counselling and Psychotherapy Can Help

Seeking support through counselling and psychotherapy can be an important step towards improving your mental health and emotional wellbeing. As a qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, and an accredited professional member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society PNCPS (Acc), I provide a safe, confidential, and compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgement.

Using an integrative approach, I tailor therapy to your individual needs, drawing from a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to help you better understand yourself, develop healthier coping strategies, and build emotional resilience. Whether you are experiencing a specific life challenge or simply feel that something isn’t quite right, therapy can help you gain clarity, confidence, and a greater sense of wellbeing.

Areas I Can Help

Anxiety, Depression and Low Self-Esteem

Living with anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem can affect every aspect of life, including relationships, work, and physical health. Together, we will explore the underlying causes of your difficulties while developing practical strategies to help you manage overwhelming thoughts and emotions.

I integrate approaches such as person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural techniques (CBT), mindfulness, emotional regulation, and self-compassion to support lasting change and improve emotional wellbeing.

Bereavement, Grief and Loss

Grief is a deeply personal experience, and there is no right or wrong way to process loss. Whether you are grieving the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, a life transition, or another significant loss, I offer a compassionate and supportive environment where you can explore your feelings at your own pace.

Together, we can work towards understanding your grief, finding ways to cope, and rebuilding hope while honouring your unique experience.

Trauma-Informed Counselling

As a trauma-informed practitioner, I recognise the lasting impact that trauma and adverse life experiences can have on mental health, relationships, and everyday life.

My practice is grounded in creating emotional safety, trust, collaboration, and empowerment. I work sensitively with each client, helping them understand how past experiences may continue to affect the present while supporting them in developing healthier ways of coping and moving forward.

I have additional training and experience supporting individuals within the LGBTQ+ community, as well as autism and ADHD clients, ensuring therapy is inclusive, affirming, and adapted to each person’s individual needs.

Memory Loss and Dementia Support

I also provide specialist counselling and emotional support for individuals living with memory loss or dementia, as well as for family members and carers. Receiving a diagnosis or caring for someone with dementia can bring uncertainty, anxiety, and significant emotional challenges.

Therapy can provide a supportive space to process these experiences, strengthen coping strategies, and maintain emotional wellbeing throughout changing circumstances.

Post-Diagnostic Support
Receiving a diagnosis of dementia or memory loss can be disorienting and frightening. Providing post-diagnostic support is crucial for helping individuals and families adjust to this new reality. I offer a combination of therapeutic techniques and practical advice, helping families navigate the complexities of care, communication, and emotional responses associated with dementia.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or facing emotional challenges, you’re not alone. I offer a safe, confidential space where we can explore what’s happening for you at your own pace. Together, we’ll work toward greater understanding, healing, and lasting personal growth.

Online Counselling Across the UK

I offer secure online counselling and psychotherapy sessions for adults throughout the UK, providing flexible access to therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

Online therapy offers the same professional, ethical, and confidential standards as face-to-face counselling while making support more accessible for those with busy schedules, mobility difficulties, caring responsibilities, or who simply prefer remote sessions.

My Approach

Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my work. I believe that every person has the capacity for growth, healing, and positive change when they feel genuinely heard, understood, and supported.

Whatever challenges you may be facing, I will work alongside you at your own pace, helping you develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and confidence to move forward with your life.

Understanding Family Dynamics
Family dynamics refer to the patterns of interactions and relationships among family members. These interactions are influenced by various factors, including cultural background, individual personalities, and even external pressures such as financial stress or health problems. Unequal power dynamics, unresolved conflicts, and differing parenting styles can lead to tension and emotional distress.

  1. Improved Communication: Counselling teaches effective communication strategies, enabling individuals to express their thoughts and feelings without escalating conflict.
  2. Conflict Resolution: Through structured sessions, individuals learn to identify the root causes of their conflicts and discover pathways to resolution.
  3. Understanding Dynamics: Counsellors can help individuals understand recurring patterns in their dynamics, allowing them to address underlying issues rather than merely treating symptoms.
  4. Emotional Support: A supportive environment allows individuals to feel validated in their experiences, encouraging emotional healing and resilience.
  5. Deeper Insight: Psychotherapy often explores the emotional and psychological factors influencing family dynamics, uncovering unresolved traumas and emotional wounds that impact current relationships.
  6. Strengthening Bonds: Through collective therapeutic sessions, families can reaffirm their connections, understanding one another’s ongoing struggles and striving toward collective healing.
  7. Enhanced Coping Skills: Psychotherapy equips families with strategies to manage stress and conflicts healthily, promoting resilience and unity.
  8. Long-Term Change: The insights gained through psychotherapy can facilitate lasting change in family dynamics, making it possible to break cycles of dysfunction.

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience and Community Involvement
Alongside my private practice, I have had the privilege of working with a suicide prevention charity, supporting individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health challenges, including those in acute emotional distress. This work has strengthened my understanding of the importance of providing compassionate, timely, and non-judgemental support during life's most difficult moments.

I am passionate about helping to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and believe everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and valued. My approach is grounded in empathy, respect, and creating a safe therapeutic relationship where clients can explore their experiences at their own pace.

My foundation training provided a comprehensive understanding of counselling theory and practice across a range of therapeutic approaches, including Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Integrative practice. This enables me to adapt my approach to meet the individual needs of each client.

Master of Science (MSc) in Dementia

My postgraduate studies have given me specialist knowledge of dementia, memory loss, and other neurocognitive conditions. This expertise allows me to support not only individuals living with dementia or cognitive changes but also family members and carers who may be coping with the emotional, practical, and relational impact of these conditions.

BACP

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
