About me

Hi, I'm Sarah, welcome,
Perhaps you're feeling overwhelmed, finding it difficult to switch off, or lying awake at 3am with thoughts that just won't stop. Things that once seemed manageable might now feel exhausting, and you simply don't feel like yourself anymore.

Sometimes you can trace these feelings back to a specific event, like a bereavement, relationship difficulties, work pressures, or a significant life change. Other times, there isn't an obvious reason. You might struggle to remember a time when you felt OK, and you know something needs to change.

How counselling can help
Counselling is different from talking with friends or family. The time is entirely yours. Having the space to say things out loud and feel carefully listened to, without being interrupted, reassured too quickly or told what you "should" do, can bring relief.

I can help you with:

  • Quieting that critical inner voice so you can feel more confident in your decisions.
  • Untangling overwhelming feelings so they become easier to manage.
  • Breaking the cycles that leave you feeling anxious, stuck or unsure of yourself.
  • Rediscovering the things that bring you happiness and beginning to enjoy life again.

Whatever has brought you here, you don't need to have everything worked out before our first session. You don't need to look after my feelings, give anything back or worry about saying the right thing.

Taking the first step
Reaching out is often the hardest part. If you're unsure what to say, that's OK. Just say hello, and I'll take it from there.

You can book a free 20-minute introductory call using the link at the top of this page. It's an opportunity for you to tell me a little about what's brought you here and get a feel for whether you'd be comfortable working with me. There's no obligation to book a session afterwards.

How I work

My approach is humanistic and integrative. I believe you're more than a diagnosis or a set of symptoms, and I take time to understand your experiences from your point of view, rather than making assumptions about what you need.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on different approaches depending on your individual circumstances and what feels helpful for you. This might involve exploring relationships, understanding past experiences or looking at how you respond to situations in the present. Where appropriate, I can also offer practical tools and information to help you understand what you're experiencing.

I have regular clinical supervision and continue to develop my knowledge and skills through ongoing professional training and research.
