About me

It is a hard decision to make to come to counselling sessions, finding the right person that you feel comfortable with isn't always easy, I will work with you to make this process a smooth one.

I have 23 years experience of working with all age groups and all issues.

Life can be very tough at times I will be there to help you to navigate through these, to find your own way and understand what is happening, the world moves at such a fast pace and this can leave us feeling very overwhelmed and disconnected, we will be on a journey together where you will be fully listened to and supported.

I work predominately from a person-centred approach but have developed a more integrative approach, incorporating, CBT, brief therapy, solution focused therapy and behavioural too. I offer a non-judgmental, empathic, safe and accepting space to help you bring about your own change at your own pace.

I am a BACP accredited member, offering you a professional service.

Sessions are 50 minutes long and the focus will be what you want to talk through and work towards.

I am happy to talk through what I offer in a telephone call before you book in for a session, helping to make the process of finding the right person easier for you.

I will respond to your enquiries as soon as possible, messages left at the weekend will be answered within 48 hours.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a diploma in therapeutic counselling (person-centred)

I also have a post-qualifying certificate in working with children and young people and also one in working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

I am BACP-accredited

I have 22 years of experience working in schools and in private practice and have worked previously at a women's aid organisation. I also offer couple counselling.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
