About me
I'm Sarah, a BACP Registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, experienced and dedicated in my support for adults and teenagers. I offer a welcoming and confidential space for anyone who feels that they are at a point or place in their lives where they feel lost or stuck or might be seeking answers. I'm here to help you find a more comfortable place in your world.
As a psychodynamic and integrative counsellor, I can work with you to find the right approach, proceeding at your pace and within your level of comfort. Therapy can support you towards exploring and identifying difficulties, life experiences, patterns and issues that may be affecting you so that you have the choices and insights you may be seeking.
My practice draws on extensive training and experience working with a wide range of presenting issues including anxiety, depression, disordered eating, managing family or work issues and loss/bereavement, trauma and neurodivergence. I am passionate about providing counselling that acknowledges each persons' own unique way of thinking and experiencing the world so that clients can learn effective strategies to provide themselves with a calm space, rest and balance. Sessions can be short term, goal orientated and solution focused or open ended and offer long term support.
My current availability is limited to day time sessions - Monday - Friday. I offer an introductory session in person or phone call without fee so that we can discuss what you are seeking from therapy and you can ask any questions you might have.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 25 years of experience in supporting and counselling young people and adults with their mental health and wellbeing in a variety of settings.
I am a qualified, BACP registered psychotherapeutic counsellor, experienced in working with adolescents and adults. My specialisms and areas of interest are working with young people, trauma and neurodivergence and I have completed specialist training in these areas. Whilst my professional development and training is ongoing, I have recently completed additional training in the areas of Compassionate Enquiry, Polyvagal Therapy and Internal Family Systems.
In addition to Private Practice, I have worked with clients of all ages, in schools and for local mental health charities. I have extensive experience and am skilful in working with young people from 13-19.
I offer a welcoming, warm and inclusive practice putting the individual at the heart of sessions.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
