About me
Hi! I'm Sarah. I am a different kind of counsellor, life coach, mental illness knowledgeable & experiencesd, couples therapist, sex therapist, kink/fetish/BDSM therapist, and young people counsellor.
I have my own style of counselling, which is realistic, open-minded, challenging at times, but always adapted to your needs. I like to go above and beyond for my clients and I am happy to support them in between sessions. I aim to empower my clients! I offer different perspectives to help clients understand themselves and those around them. Being open and honest about my life experiences helps my clients feel understood, not so alone, and at ease.
I have lived and professional experience of mental illnesses, particularly EUPD/BPD, DID, ODD, Bipolar Schizophrenia, and Psychosis. Gender identity, body dysmorphia, sexuality, sexual issues, relationship struggles, abuse, trauma, neurodivergence, kink, fetishism, and BDSM.
I am a member of the LGBTQIA community and a passionate transgender ally! I attend regular transgender and crossdresser support groups.
I offer life coaching to help find solutions, options, and your strengths. I offer help with forms, CV's, budgeting, and career guidance. I work with individuals, couples, families, children & young people.
I truly empathise with my clients due to my own life experiences. These include childhood abuse, sexual abuse, grief, pattern of abusive relationships, and my own mental health struggles.
I have both lived and professional experience of EUPD, DID, ODD, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, and Psychosis.
As a neurodivergent myself, I am aware of the struggles we face. I support clients through the realisation of their condition, the diagnosis processes, how to cope as a neurodivergent, understanding the benefits of being neurodivergent, and accepting themselves.
I have lived and professional experience of kink, fetish, and BDSM and help many clients learn to understand and accept their desires. My clients are free to talk about anything with me! Nothing is off limit or will shock me.
My main aim is for my clients to feel relaxed, comfortable, and able to talk to me about anything.
Training, qualifications & experience
I studied counselling psychotherapy over 4 years. This included a year of mental illness training, an area I am very interested in. I have worked for a local counselling charity service where I supported many clients through difficult issues. There I gained invaluable experience, but I knew there was a different way of doing things.
I set up my own private practice so I can offer my clients a more in depth and varied service.
I continue to study and attend additional training in areas that will benefit my clients the most.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
