About me
Hello, I’m Sara, I offer counselling for adults and young people aged 16+ online and in person in Berkhamsted. I specialise in neurodivergent-affirming and trauma-informed therapy, providing a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings, find coping strategies and be truly heard, as a unique individual.
Some of the issues clients come to me with are - anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, low mood, the effects of abuse, trauma, neurodivergence in yourself or family members, relationship challenges, inner conflict, parenting struggles, societal pressure and many more.
Regardless of your personal history, background, gender, sexuality, race or neurotype, I’m here to offer support and practical coping strategies as you navigate life.
My approach
I am an integrative counsellor, meaning that I draw on a variety of approaches to suit your needs. I work with clients of all neurotypes, with a specialism in autism and ADHD and am neurodivergent myself.
During sessions, we may explore your emotions, as well as patterns in your thoughts and behaviours, with the aim of deepening your understanding of your self and finding suitable coping strategies and exploring areas for change.
Our relationship is key, building trust and rapport together, so that meaningful and positive change can be made. I use a number of models within my work, including psychodynamic, person-centred, transactional analysis and cognitive behavioural therapy - don't worry if you don't know what those mean, the important thing is that I will work with you as an individual!
